Poll: menu option

FI and I went to our menu tasting last night, and before we go in July to nail down the final arrangements, I wanted to get opinions on what guests would prefer.

We have two options with what we could do for an upgrade.  It costs a little extra to offer two meal options instead of just one.  We can either offer our guests their choice of meals -- or we can throw that money at upgrading the bar service for our cocktail hour (it's going to be an open bar regardless; we would just have more specialty drink options during the cocktail hour if we decide to offer only one choice of entree).

Re: Poll: menu option

  • Personally I would feel weird about not offering people a choice of what to eat.  More alcohol is always good, but If it's an open bar anyway, people wll drink what's available.

  • I'd say a choice of entree. I think this will make people feel more welcome and accomodated than more specialty drinks.

  • I'd go with the a meal option so people have choices.

  • That was honestly what I was thinking, too.  FI's family is a bunch of drinkers so we weren't sure if we should throw the money at the bar.

But the food was so good last night that I didn't think I could pick one entree if I had to!  Thanks for the input!

  • What are the entree choices?
  • I vote for entree as well.  While I like my alcohol during weddings...food is good too.
  • Heels, it would be a choice between chicken and beef or pork.  The beef entree would be an additional upgrade, but all three were really good.

We can't have fish because too many people in my family and FI's family, including one of my bridesmaids, are horribly allergic to it.  Our coordinator told us it was just safer to nix a fish option than to risk it.

  • I would give guests 2 menu choices

  • MMM.  You're making me hungry.
  • I would prefer being able to choose an entree.  I always choose chicken to be more specific.

  • Megan, I just saw the food tasting review in your blog. That centerpiece is gorgeous and just what i was looking for. Can I steal your pic for my bio?

  • Yes Sarah!  By all means, take it!

I was originally thinking about going for purple for my color scheme.  If I had seen that centerpiece and those white and purple callas, I think I would have stuck with it!

  • I am one of the out numbered voters who picked bar- but only because I have a hard time choosing between chicken and beef- they are both good!
Also, I know people are more picky about the bar.

Honestly though, either one would be fine.
