i dont think we've discussed it... but I was thinking about this! When there were rumors about the cape and the vineyard I was feeling bad for every local bride around here (I am a boston girl). That has to SUCKKK. This bride... is pretty much screwed if the current rumors are true.

i just read that. I'm torn. It would suck to have a high profile event disrupting the flow of traffic in the town where you are getting married, but she annoyed me by making the comments about her mom paying for her wedding. You and your husbands are both adults with jobs and you let your single mother work her ass off to save up to pay for your pretty princess day? I'm sure she didn't intend to come across like that, but it rubbed me the wrong way and made it sound like she is one of those people who expects everybody else to bend over backwards for her.

Notice that she hopes Chelsea gets married somewhere else but doesn't consider the fact that other brides are bound to be effected by the wedding if it IS elsewhere. As long as her princess day is perfect, who cares?

On one hand, I agree that it does really suck. I think it's ridiculous to have a town friggin shut down because the former first daughter is getting married. She's not that important.

On the other hand, I think the bride is enjoying a little 15 minutes of fame by bitching about the wedding. Complaining won't change a thing, the Clintons aren't going to care about her wedding at all so she just needs to suck it up and find an alternative solution if one is needed.

I was thinking the same thing...the paparrazzi care about Chelsea Clinton? Why? It's not like she is ever in the news.

I am actually with u guys here. it sucksss but she is complaining a lot. she probably wants to gain something out of this.. and honestly if this gets picked up by the 24 hr news media... she probably will. IF the wedding is there.. you have to figure they dont want bad press attached to Chelsea's day...

She comes off as a huge, entitled brat, like, "Well, I set MY date two years ago" and blahblah. I can imagine her whining and foot stomping.

I know that Chelsea Clinton isn't in the spotlight that often, but you have to admit she's kind of political royalty. She basically grew up in front of the nation, and was the butt of a lot of jokes, specifically about her appearance. But now she's all grown up and getting married, and her father is still one of the most powerful men in the country. I can see why the media is all over this.

am I the only one that is sorta fascinated by the Clinton wedding? I always liked chelsea and I really cant wait to see photos. I hope the paps get pictures!

This. Anyone runs the risk of something crazy happening before their wedding that could throw a wrench in the logistics. Will it mean it will be a pain in the ass all around? Probably. But there will still be a wedding. She will still be married. She will just need to work a little harder before hand to make sure everything goes smoothly. That's all.

Some people will find anything to complain about so that they can get attention.

I feel bad for her because she'll be right in the middle of a traffic nightmare. BUT, it also seems like she's milking it a bit really, trying to get some attention out of the deal, and coming across as a bit whiny.

I think she is just sounds like a whiny little brat. Yes it does suck that they might closed down roads, but really I think she just wants some attention.  Did anyone else notice how the article stated that the bride didn't reach out to them? Or that she totally advertised her friend's bakery?

Eh... I'm also torn. The logistics will be a nightmare, and I think I'd be upset if my reception was going to be delayed by over an hour, if not more. Her tone is annoying, but hey, she's probably stressed.

It's true about what will happen if Obama comes, though. I'd be surprised if they could still get into their venue.

I think people are making a bigger deal out of this than it probably will be.

I lived in DC for years and years, only a few blocks from the White House, and have been around some pretty seriously well attended events.  And they're pretty good at making big events as minimally intrusive as possible.  Granted, the Rhinebeck police probably aren't as experienced as DC Metro Police, but I imagine it won't take "hours" to get from one location to another.  Any tall buildings within sniper distance will be shut down and closed during the event, roads within 1 mile will likely be closed and sand roadblocks or buses parked to block the route.  Any venue where there will be people protected by Secret Service (Obama, the Clintons, any foreign dignitary) would have to be cleared before they enter, and likely will be closed a day in advance, but will immediately be able to resume normal operations after they leave.

I don't see this really affecting her wedding that much at all.  Though my bets are on Martha's Vineyard anyway - it's more remote, so thus easier to control from a security perspective.  Plus it's personal to the Clintons.  I sort of feel bad for Chelsea, she doesn't seem to really like the limelight but it's been forced upon her.  I'm sure she'd like a normal, non-dramatic wedding.

I'll tell you this much, it'd make for one hell of a drinking game at the reception if people had to take a sip of wine or liquor everytime the bride said "Chelsea."  You KNOW the bride's going to be talking about it all night.

This really is not the same as DC.  I've been to DC and Rhinebeckand trust me, they are night and day.  Rhinebeck is a tiny little town in upstate New York.  The tallest building is about 3 stories and there really is only one main road that runs through town.  Plus, the external roads are limited roads and many of them are country back-roads.  It is definitely a legitimate issue regarding the traffic and trying to get around it. 

I feel for the bride, and honestly can see her worries.  Think about the nonsense people come on here and worry about. 

I too am interested in seeing pictures from Chelsea's wedding.  I'm sure it will be a beautiful affair.
