I highly doubt that the majority of people who are posting pictures are even thinking about abused children. They are probably thinking "ohhh I used love the Smurfs", or whoever. Then they feel better about themselves because they 'helped' someone. It is pathetic.
I agree that it is raising awareness, but what good does that do? I don't think this 'campaign' is going to motivate anyone to donate or volunteer their time.

It's funny, looking at my friends list, I could have predicted the idiots that would have changed their picture, and I was right.

I will probably lose some friends over my last post, but oh well, These people are the ones I could easily lose.

I'm totally fine with "Hey! It's Cartoon Week! Change your profile picture to your favorite cartoon as a child!". I actually probably would have done that.

But don't pretend that you're doing ANYTHING about Child Abuse. You're not raising awareness, you're not helping that kid down that street who's getting beaten. You're not doing shiit.

I was getting for work yesterday, and FI was in the shower. We were joking about the cartoon thing, so I changed my status to this.

"HELP! We have to do our part to stop Cartoon Breast Cancer. Please, change your status to the color of your cartoon's bra, to help stop this heinous disease. THIS will actually do something, if you change YOUR Facebook status."
