I doubt you people will be around but I will start this thread anyways.

I woke up and my allergies were already bugging me, ive already gone through my eye digging routine and nonstop sneezing routine so far this morning and i havnt been up for a whole hour yet. Other than that, im still reeling from Mad Men lastnight and impatiently waiting for the TLo post about it.

Have a good day everyone :)

Hi! I'll come play. I'm working and it's dead. Sorry about your allergies. It's muggy here and going to be HOT today.

Ya its supposed to get wicked hot here today too, which isnt good since we havnt had rain in longer than I can remember so its so dry here. There was rain coming our way yesterday but it broke up before it got here, which always seems to happen. Weve started to notice that my area doesnt get weather anymore - rain breaks up before it gets here, snow misses us, storms veer off and skip us. We just dont get weather anymore.
  • Morning! I can't wait to watch mad men. I like to DVR it so I can fast forward through commercials. I get so pumped every Monday morning. The tropical storm is still here but we didn't lose power or anything. It's just really windy right now. It did wake the dogs up in the middle of the night and they started barking like crazy. At least I know they'll guard the house. Haha. Hope your allergies get better nebb.

You're in some weird weatherless vortex.

It pretty much rained the past two weeks here, so I'm over the rain. Next time it comes here I'll try to send some buckets up your way.

  • Morning everyone! Just woke up.  Feeling the effects of the large bottle of wine FI and I shared last night. Before that, I hadn't drank in amost a month, so it had quite the effect on me.  Going to eat breakfast in a bit here and head out for a run before it gets too hot outside.  THen the rest of the day will be lounging around and making the flowergirl basket.  Tonight is my MOH's senior recital (she's a vocal performance major) so we'll be headed out to that eventually as well.

lol no way could I wait until monday to watch mad men, between people posting spoilers on twitter (cause they are CLUELESS) and feeling like I am missing out because Im not vaguetweeting with everyone else watching it on sunday night. I love that there are commercials during AMC shows cause I need bathroom breaks, thats what I sorta hate about HBO. You have to sit and not move for an hour.
  • Morning!  Grill-out last night was a success, even though it was hot as hell (both inside and outside.)  Puck agrees- he managed to steal a brat (and bun) and a bag of beef jerky.  asshole.

Nebb, that's usually how we are too- I think the city breaks stuff up.  But the past week we've gotten so much rain.  It sucks because it's just a consistent muggy/damp feeling, but it's also made our yard awesome.

    Good morning, ladies.

Allergie suck, Nebb.  Do they bother you all summer?  Mine seem to have eased up considerably.

Well, I made it through the weekend in one piece.  Actually, the RD and wedding went quite well, and I just ignored the people I didn't care to talk to (like the groom).  We're spending today with MIL, then she's going home tomorrow.  It will be fun - MIL is awesome and I love being around her.  It's supposed to be mid 70s, and we might do some gardening this afternoon while DH grills up some steaks.

  • Morning!  I'm so far behind on Mad Men. I don't know if I want to read synopses so I can learn what is going on or if I want to wait until I can actually watch it. I didn't start watching it until the long break between Season 4 and 5 so I haven't had this issue before.

We got back from our camping trip yesterday. It went really well and the weather was perfect. We definitely need to get a better pad or an air mattress though because we were both sore the whole time.

Friday we went to these gorgeous waterfalls.

Gorgeous, Celtic.  Sounds like you had a good time.  I appreciate my comfy bed so much more when I've been sleeping in a tent.

  • Ohhhh yes. It was very nice to shower and sleep in a real bed! I don't sleep well when camping because I'm paranoid and wake at every little sound. The place we camped this weekend is in a black bear sanctuary so it was worse than usual. My logical knowledge that they will leave us alone doesn't diminish my irrational fear.

  • Morning. I have to work today which sucks because its going to be dead. Hopefully I can get out early. Its not as nice out today as it was this weekend. So i don't feel too bad for myself lol.

Me too.  I know the bears would rather eat the cooler full of food than eat me, but I still jump at every single noise and wind gust.

Celtic where did you camp if you don't mind me asking? I'm close to your area and we're looking for different places to go.
    image
  • We go to WV. We usually go to a free campground called Hawk in the George Washington National Forest. It's nice but the bathrooms are buggy. You also have to haul out your own trash as there are no facilities there. It's not well known so it's usually not full and you have a bit of privacy even though the woods between sites are thin.

This past weekend we went to Tea Creek which is further south, near Marlinton. It's a nicer campground but a 6 hour drive for us. FH wanted to go mountain biking and they have a lot of nice trails around there. This campground had bug free bathrooms, but their still just vault toilets. They also had trash cans in fenced in areas to keep the bears out.

Tea Creek is $10 a day but it is worth it in my opinion. If it was closer we'd probably go there exclusively. Almost all the sites were filled with RVs though and their generators were really annoying.

I can PM you more detailed info if you want.

My allergies usuallt get bad at the beginning of the summer and calm down sometime in june. I need new allergy meds this week cause I'm almost out so I might splurge on the best I can find.
  • Boo I just checked the city's website and I do indeed have to report for jury duty tomorrow. Luckily I have a few books to read but I wish I had brought my laptop home from work. I didn't realize you could bring them in.

Morning all. I think we are going to hide inside today, it's going to be humid and a high of 90, blech. I was hoping last night's thunderstorm would cool things off, but no such luck. It was neat to watch it roll in, though! ILs have a covered deck so we sat outside until it really started pouring.

Know what really warms my heart? The knowledge that even though I have a college education and many years of experience doing office admin, my job has been reduced to cutting paper and stuffing envelopes. Even then, my boss has to come and make sure I'm not having issues with it. If I sound a bit bitter, its cause I am. This is such horse shite.
  • Morning. We had a scary night with really high winds and heavy rain. The yard is a mess and the river is crashing over the.bulkhead. all night transformers were blowing and sparking. Our power came back around three am but the.cable and internet are out. We haven't gone out yet to assess yard.damage but the trucks are.fine. I'm just mad.I missed game of thrones.

Well Nebb he's clearly concerned about paper cuts.

Celtic thanks for the info. I'll have to look both of them up. H likes to canoe, so we want to either be able to canoe to a campsite or have canoeing nearby to do one day we're there.

  • Morning ladies!

We are headed out to plant everything I bought yesterday and start my umbrella project. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner last night. Tomato's and mozzerella, crab cakes followed by blackened Sea Bass with asparagus and baked potato. Finished by warm chocolate brownie with ice cream.

Today we are making beer can chicken, marinated onions. We were supposed to get up early, but damn  sleeping in felt so good.

    Everyone have a great holiday!

  • Good morning. I am about to get up and get some laundry and cleaning done. We have plans to lay out by the pool this afternoon too. I've been having random nausea lately and I'm hoping it goes away soon. It kept me up some last night.

  • Morning, sitting here with my coffee and steel cut oats are on the stove. It is thunder storming! Ben and I did jackshitnothing this weekend. We had a family reunion on Saturday on my side, but we could have gone to the lake yesterday. Ben's whole family is there, and he was like, let's just stay home. Dumb. Haha we are sitting here and he is watching The Wicker Man. Horrible.

AATB you reminded me I made THESE last night (and almost every two weeks). Individual Baked Oatmeal Cups. They're so delish and great for quick morning breakfast.

I use Truvia instead of Stevia, and don't put in the banana. I sometimes add a packet of AllSpice Apple Cider mix, and I use vanilla almond milk instead of regular milk. I also don't put toppings on mine, but I'm sure they're delicious with fruit and things on top. The recipe makes like 36 and they freeze well.

Good to know Celtic. We also just got season passes to King's Dominion, so I want to see if there's camping near there. Is Tea Creek pet friendly?

  • I would probably use raw cane sugar in those. They look yummy. I think I have to become a regular coffee drinker. I haven't taken a damn dump in two days. Half a cup down and I think it's almost time. Tmi? Meh.

Yeah we had our dog there. FH used to bring one of his cats too.

King's Dominion is a lot of fun, I just wish it was closer. We'll be back down there in September for the gay night/fundraiser where they close down the park to everyone else after 8pm. There is no wait for any of the coasters and it's a ton of fun.
