Hump Day!

It's Wednesday - it's my best teaching day (I just like my schedule).  Report cards go out tomorrow though so it is 'hold your breath and wait for repercussions' time...hate it!

I might actually make it back to the gym today, I haven't had time for anything other than a 12 minute run and about 30 minutes of shoveling snow since last Thursday...I can't wait for a good rinsing at hot yoga tonight.

I'm just heading back to work after a 4 day weekend. I am not looking forward to it!

I spent most of the weekend eating and drinking non-stop so I'm going to try to go to the gym 4 out of the next 5 days.

  • Good morning!

So, it's Ash Wednesday and I'm trying to figure out what kind of meatless lunch I can make. So far, I have a bagel with cheese, fruit, yogurt, applesauce and salad. I can't say I'm overly excited about any one thing in my lunch, but it'll do. I also need to find a church in the area where I can get my ashes today, because I'm totally ignorant of what's in the city where I work.

Aside from that, I'm thrilled that this week is halfway over. I haven't been sleeping well and I just want a day to bum around and not do much.

Good luck with the report cards, number. A few other friends of mine are teachers too, and everyone's got the same "hope I don't step on a landmine" kind of vibe. Who knew report cards could be so contentious? I remember when a bad report card was the student's fault, not the teacher's.
  • Remember that phone interview I have this week? I dont know what to do about it now because I found out yesterday that we are having a work luncheon on the same day. I had planned to go "eat my lunch in my car" during the phone interview, but I cant see how I can leave for that without questions considering that when we have luncheons everyone sits around where my desk is. I dont live in the city I work nor do I ever leave the office, so people know I dont have anywhere to go. Effing eff. I had a hard enough time finding a "time" that fell on lunch to begin with.

I fucking hate phone interviews, theyre stupid. Give me a real interview where I can book off work and not deal with this phone crap. I dont even know that I want to do it now, its more trouble than its worth.
  • Good morning!  I have completely changed up my workouts this week.  I only lost three pounds in January and NOTHING is February - well, that's not entirely true, I haven't gotten on the scale once in February because I didn't want to see a gain or stagnant number.  Anyway, I've been running, doing more intense intervals, and a few months ago I found this awesome iphone app called Nike Training Club that has pre created circuit workouts and times each circuit for you. It's awesome and has really helped me ease back into strength training.  I'm actually excited to go to the gym again, though I probably won't weigh in for another few weeks.

Other than that, my week has been boring.  I've been anxiously awaiting a call from the department I interviewed with.  I keep telling myself that it's a state job and everything takes time with those kind of positions.  Plus, they are interviewing through tomorrow and if it were me, I'd wait and call all three people I'd decided to hire at once.  Basically, I need to just relax.  I really hope I hear from them soon though.

    Have a great day, ladies!

  • Good morning! I had my last training run before Sunday's race this morning, and I managed to complete a 5K at a sub-10 minute/mile pace, so I feel rather accomplished. I can't tell if it's because I truly made progress, or I'm just so excited about race day that I was pushing myself harder.

Today is my only full workday this week, as I came in late from picking up my car at the shop yesterday, and then I'm leaving early (using some earned comp time) to head up to Orlando tomorrow.

BTW, I'm so happy to have my car back. I had two rental cars while my car was in the shop, and I was too tall for both of them and kept hitting my head getting in and out of it, and my bun kept brushing up against the headrests when I was in uniform. Innie the Audi is my car soulmate.

  • I only get 5 sick days a year, and if need be Id rather use it for a "real" interview. I wouldnt want to call in sick for the phone interview and AGAIN for another interview and end up with only 2 sick days left for the year (ive already taken one). My biggest concern is what if I dont end up losing my job and then have to somehow exist on 2 sick days for the whole year.
  • Glad it was an easy fix, Edie!  Car trouble are seriously the suck!

Nebb, I think you should still try to do the interview.  You're miserable at work and you'd probably regret it if you didn't do it.

  • yeah i dont know if it looks bad to reschedule and I had a hard enough time getting a lunch time when I did. They wanted me to do it at 9:30 or 10:30. Um, I am currently working and you know that based on my resume, not gonna work. Phone interviews are stupid. I really dont know how to work around this.
  • Morning!

Nebb, that blows.  I'd see about possibly re-scheduling, even if it's just pushing the time forward or back a bit.

I like short weeks.  Also, my boss is at home with his kids today.  I feel like that might mean not a lot of work gets done.  Mind you, I've got less than 8 weeks of work left (WTF?) and I have a LOT of reports to finish up.

  • I can't push it forward or back, it has to be at 12:30 cause that's when my lunch is. Effff..
  • Hmmm, maybe fake some "lady troubles"?  And need to "run out to get something"?

  • Good Morning,

I'm tired and need more coffee.  I had a 9:00 but I guess that was cancelled so I'm sitting in my office trying to get motivated to do something.

Nebb, any chance you could tell your current employer you have a call you need to take?  Not necessarily tell them it an interview, but let them know you scheduled this call a couple weeks back specifically during your lunch time- tell them it's with the vet or something they won't probe too much about.  Or tell them it's a phone interview.  They have to know you're looking since they only gave you job security for a couple of months.
  • I'm not too much worried about questions from my boss at not being here, its everyone else. Someone farts in the office and everyone wants to know what's going on. If I'm at the luncheon they're all gonna bug me wanting to know why. I know I sound like I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be I just don't want it to be an obvious big deal that I'm interviewing.

Eek that's no good. Maybe tell them you had scheduled a quick appointment during your lunch that day that you can't get out of, but you knew you'd be back in the time of your lunch period?
  • I might just leave anyways and just say screw it. Its noones business anyways. I hate these stupid luncheons, every single one is drama anyways.
  • You have nosy coworkers Nebb. Tell them to mind their own damn business.
  • Tell them you have errands to run, Nebb.  eff them if they pester you about it. It's none of their business, who cares.

Morning ladies. I brought Honey Nut Cheerios to work with me, and they smell funny. Almost like apples... I think I'm losing my mind.

I love your car names, Mehg.  My car is currently BO-Car. (as in, Bailout... I bought it right before all that drama.)  Yes, H and I are nerds. whatev.
  • mehg - Is that the princess run that you are doing?  Sorry if you mentioned it before I am way out of it.

    Hey all,

I am almost positive I have a sinus infection.  Luckily l have a stash of antibiotics from the last time my doctor thought I had a sinus infection (turned out to be a migraine and the pain med injection sufficed).  I started taking the antibiotics and I am feeling a bit better.

This year sucks (not to be a Debbie Downer on hump day) but one of my good friends from undergrad died last week, and I just found out that the dog that belonged to my cousin who passed away at the start of the year just died.  CHRIST ALMIGHTY can everyone just stop dying please?

  • I hate Ash Wednesday.  I go to a Catholic university, so I'm sure this evening I'll be walking to class wondering why everyone is wandering around with dirt on their foreheads.  I go through this every. year.

Nebby, can you just excuse yourself and say that you have to take a call?  Or act like it's your H calling with some sort of emergency and go outside to talk to him?

Her's arent the only ones. We have a few here at my work too, as soon as I call off I know I will get the Spanish Inquisition the next day, what was wrong, did you puke, is it the flu, do you feel better? And on and on it goes. Part of the reason I try not to call in.

  • Thanks JCB!
*hugs* lbarr. I'm sorry to hear that.
  • I forgot about Ash Wednesday.  I saw a man with something on his forehead and was wondering why he was so nonchalant about something so obvious on his face that it made me laugh.  Then I realized it was for religious purposes and I feel like an ASS laughing at something like that.
  • I might just say its my banker if anyone asks. A friend from work went to florida last week and I asked for a gift and he got me a tshirt with a skeleton driving a truck and it says trucker to the bone. Its awesome! I don't wanna effing leave here. Sorry for being so whiny guys, I'm just... Whiny.

I don't get how people can be like that.  I don't get why people are so concerned with other people's business.  I know the simple answer is that they're nosy.. but still.. what's the point?

You are allowed to be whiny. And it's a huge change if you have to leave as well as the not knowing. It's scary as well as sad. Whine away.

Chels-The lady who is like that here, is like that about EVERYTHING! She reminds me of a 5 yr old. But why? But Why? Annoying.

Next time she's nosy, I'd turn around and ask her an even more personal question (but one that I wouldn't be upset to know the answer to) until she gets the hint.

  • Good morning, ladies.

Crappy sleep again last night.  Between my daughter coming in late and the wind blowing hard (the bedroom window whistles when it's windy) I was awake from 1 to 3.  Boo.

We name our cars too.  My Escort sedan was Trixie, my Escape was the Yellow Submarine, daughter's 4Runner is the Puppy Wagon, stepson's Maxima is the MaxiPad, DH's truck is the Fire Truck
