So awhile ago I posted pictures of my newest litter. They are doing wonderfully!! Here's some new photos to make you smile

This is Blake. His eyes look funny in the light because they are a pale blue/green.

Pongo did not enjoy his bath.....

Persephone!! SHe was very hyper today.
Finally this is my little Shenanigans. I'm keeping him for the breeding program because he's such a doll.

I made a bio?!?
I am in love! And I love the name "Shenanigans."

Why thank you =) He's very clever and naughty. He's figured out how to open the baby gate. I constantly come into my building and find him buried in my boxes of dog toys asleep.
So cute! I love that one is named "Shenanigans." Is there a nickname for him?

I'm going to admit I call him Sha Nay Nay.....I don't know why. Poor baby.
An estimated 9 million unwanted dogs and cats are euthanized in the US every year.
I'm sorry. I don't care how cute they are; I can't get behind any breeding program.
I super big pink puffy heart love weiner dogs. My parents have three of them, currently and we always had at least one growing up.The red one reminds me of one we had when I was a kid and I named her Scarlet, for obvious reasons.

=) Oh I like the name Scarlet. I will have that one in reserve. Blake is a sweetie pie. My FI is pestering me to keep him but I don't think this is the time to add a fourth dog to our insane household. He needs a lot of attention so I'm interviewing possible clients this weekend that have one other dog and no more.

Doxies are very smart. When I first adopted Bax, I had to keep him in his crate when we were out because I didn't know what kind of training he had. That dog would be out of the crate every day when I got home from work. He figured out how to escape. At least we knew he could be left out during the day.
I made a bio?!?

And <eyeroll /> Adopting isn't for everyone. Its a great thing to do but certainly not for every person. Those people deserve to have the option to find well bred, healthy puppies. Plus many breeders are exceedingly devoted to bettering the health and temperament of the breed.
Its opinions like this that make people think less of animal rescue people.

We just added a fourth dog to our household over Independence Day weekend. We must be crazy people. I was gearing up for it to be really really hard for a while, but it actually hasn't been bad at all. He's taking really well to housetraining and he's too small to really destroy anything. Sorry for jacking your thread a little.

They're often too smart for their own good. Lexus (dog in my siggy picture) knows when I'm getting ready to go out....she then proceeds to poop under my vanity where I do my makeup. She's lucky I love her.

Jack away! (sorry that sounds dirty)
What type of dogs do you have? I'm all for adding a fourth when the wedding is over. Right now I'm wedding planning, transitioning between finishing one graduate degree and starting another and dealing with life in general! My third dog is special needs and she takes up a lot of time.

Eh so by this thinking no one should have their own kids because there's a ton waiting to be adopted.

Most of those exceedingly devoted breeders are also involved in breed-specific rescue.
Okay, we already had the discussion about adopting vs. breeding and animal rights. Aprovencher breeds. If you don't like it, ignore it but we've already discussed it to death. She's responsible and placing those dogs in good homes. Adoption is not for everyone, as she already said.

=) Thanks.
More pictures of your doggie??

Yup........as am I. Was there a point to this statement??

And as far as I know, we don't euthanize unwanted children.

Nope we just shuffle them around from home to home, where they are treated as unwanted individuals and then the system spits them out at the ripe old age of 18.
I miss him.She had to put him down last year.

That is amazing!
I call my animals ridiculous names also, I get it. :-)
I don't think that's right, either. Like my dogs, I'm a child of adoption.
Posted by Celles
That's great. But just like adopting children isn't for everyone the same can be said for pets.
Any responsible breeder is involved in breed specific rescue programs. I have at least 3 dogs that would have been put down due to horrific injuries that make them unadoptable. They have a very healthy and fulfilling life living with me because of my breeding program.
Also, any breeder worth their salt has a legal clause preventing their pups from landing in shelters. I also reserve first right of refusal and will take any puppy back into my care versus having it end up somewhere else. I check in yearly with all of my clients.
It never ceases to amaze me how many dog adoption vs breeder conversations happen on a wedding forum.

HA! Katie you're great.
Pongo is so sweet! My friend has had two Dachsunds. Amber and Taz.Taz was a brindle and he was the sweetest dog ever. I miss him.She had to put him down last year.

Ugh. I just had to put my Zoey down. She was a rescue who got thrown downstairs. Her back finally gave out this time after two surgeries. Putting any animal down makes me ungodly sad.
Dachshunds are awesome (though I'm biased).
