I didnt know gypsies got done up like that, I always thought they were dirty caravan people (that sounds SO offensive, and I dont mean it that way, but its just the stereotype I know). They are as glammed up as physically possible (from what I saw in the previews)

I love how the describe her husband to be as a "tree surgeon".  Thats a serious mullet for a surgeon.

 Oh and during some re-runs of Extreme Couponing this afternoon they had new ads on for Toddlers and Tiaras. Oh TLC .... I remember when you were "the LEARNING Channel!"

I'm watching it, and am just in awe.  It's insane that these girls were fancier dresses for their First Communion than most people wear for their wedding. 

It's kind of crazy to hear how their dating works and all the rules they have for women.  "Grabbing" kind of looks like attempted rape.

It's funny to hear the camera guys asking them questions, because you can tell how strange they think it is.  Like when they asked the girl if she was going to help out her cousin getting grabbed, and she said no she could handle it herself.  That goes against everything we ever teach girls here.  

How about the communion dresses turning into skintight miniskirts?  I wouldn't even let an 18 year old wear that, let alone an 8 year old.

I haven't seen the show, just photos that occasionally pop up on wedding trainwreck sites. It's disturbing how young they get married at, mainly so they don't have premarital sex. From what I understand, the parents save up from when the girl is born so they can throw a big, fancy wedding, but that doesn't explain the stripper bride look that so many of the girls (and their mothers) are fond of.

How about saving that money for something a little more important.  Like a house.

This is just so weird!  Im trying not to judge, but I cant get on board with a culture that thinks its ok to dress their daughters like skank whores and prance them around dirty looking men with mullets.

I don't think they have any desire to live in houses though.  Their history is to be in the trailers and only stay in any area for a few months at a time.  It's weird that they don't use the bathroom in their trailers though.

ok i lied... the "courting" is crazy how different it is from what we teach girls here.  so basically the boys are taught that its ok to sexually assault girls they're fond of?! ...insane

and these little girls are dressed up all skanky and swooned over... good lord...

I was expecting this to be a fun glitter trainweck... but it's kind of sad instead of enertaining.  The 6 year old communion bit isn't registering right with me... and the destruction of the homes is sad too.

Technically my church never asked about what any of us were wearing.  I don't know what they would have done had we shown up dress like that though. 

Why would you ever want to wear a dress that you have to kick your legs as you walk just so you don't trip?  Or a dress that turns you into Rainbow Brite?

A lot of churches will tell you that you need to have your shoulders covered (a viel usually covers that) and the lady told us no, um, boobage.

I am horrified and fascinated all at the same time.
