What are you going to be this year?

Re: Halloween

  • Amazing Mayze from Seussical :)  My parents actually got a lot of the set pieces from the community colleges showing of it this summer which is fantastic.

I have this fabric for the body and am going to do a mardi gras style feather mask, huge feather boa/ribbon tail and some crazy facepaint/arm tattoos.

  • I'm being super creative this year and am going to go as a pirate. I need to order my costume...which will likely be this one, but I'm a little worried it might be too short...

  • Sun, if it's too short you could probably buy/make some sort of full skirt for underneath. Let me see if I could find a picture...

    Is that a pirate costume or a wench costume? <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
  • I want to wear a cute sailor costume, something vintage-y. I like this one but it's sold out a lot of places. http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/nautical-doll-adult-womens-costume/

  • I feel like something is wrong with me because I have ABSOLUTELY no interest in halloween whatsoever. I don't think I have since I was 10. Like none. (I also don't decorate my house at x-mas time).

We are going to the cottage with FI (by then he will be DH) for the halloween weekend.
  • edited September 2010

I want to be Olive Oyl or Mary Poppins, but I'll probably pull an old costume out and wear it. It depends on what plans I have. It's my anniversary, so we'll probably celebrate that the night before and take Chloe trick-or-treating on the actual day.

Chloe and I are working on some decorations for our new house, and we're making a tray of spell ingredients out of glass containers, creepy labels and rubber body parts, beads and feathers. I'm pretty excited about it! I love love love Halloween.

    Yes!

But, literally, every inch of this guy's lawn is covered in some kind of Halloween figure.  It's the house Halloween threw up on.  I will try to sneak a picture tomorrow on my way home from work.

    I think it's both, lol.

And Katie, it has ruffly short things to wear under it, which definitely lends credence to my too short theory.
  • I was Elphaba last year; J was the Scarecrow.  He wants to do Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth - I'm not sure about that one. He'd be hysterical as Dog, though. I've been talking about vintage Cher, because the long black wig was so fun last year. I don't think J would go for a nehru jacket. though.

Of course, this is all only if our friends throw their annual Halloween party. Rumor has it, they aren't this year. So.... it may be a moot point.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

Opague tights?  That's what I did one year when I went as a playboy bunny and the outfit skirt was super short (like long shirt short).  It was like wearing a tunic and leggings.
  • Since J is so skinny and buff this year, I think he'd make a great Popeye! And Olive's costume would be super simple. I really want to do it, but I may run out of time with all the housework I've gotten myself into.

Good idea. I'd probably have to anyways, we usually have our first blizzard on Hallowe'en, lol. Although two years ago, it was like 70 degrees.
  • I am being Slutty Snow White.

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I will just have had shoulder surgery so I am thinking of going as an injured cheerleader.  I also love this costume for some reason.

  • I keep being late to the halloween threads.

I love halloween almost as much as I love Christmas!

I have no idea what FI or I will be, but I'm thinking something like this for Emerson:

    Photobucket
  • Jel- I just wear a pair of black stretch shorts.
  • We'll be in Baltimore (visitng Salt, Sco, and Tide!!) so I'm not sure if we're doing Halloween with my BIL and FSIL (oh yeah, we're visiting them too) or not. I've always always always wanted to get a guy to be Santa and go as an elf. Cause it's the wrong holiday!! Ok, I'm lame. Maybe next year - DH would be an awesome Santa.

I went as Santa (kinda) two years ago! The picture below is obviously not me but this was it, just with a little less boobage.

  • I need a "work appropriate" costume this year because I probably won't be going out.  My workplace is pretty relaxed though for an office, so I think I can pull this off:

Otherwise, I will fall back on this if I can figure out the hat.

  • I need something kid appropriate since I work in a bookstore. Does anyone have creative suggestions that could win a costume contest? I'm just not very creative. I keep going back to a cat...

Are there any kid's book characters with colorful/elaborate outfits that wouldn't be too hard to make?
