I was sitting here at my desk and had a thought "I wish I was able to take off work until after the honeymoon. There is so much that I could be doing.

I wish the weather is Chicago is nice on our wedding day so that we can go to the park and get some pics outside with the trees and fall colors.

I feel your pain!  I have a half mile walk to my office from the parking lot.  I wear flip flops until I get to the elevator and I don't care how stupid it looks lol

Thanksgiving to Christmas last year, my grandpa was in and out.
I don't think he left after Christmas, and bounced between two hospitals and a health rehab before he passed away in March.
(Sorry, I don't mean to scare you.)
I just wanted to say I've done the long-term hospital thing, and it's horrible.
We would have to stay with him because the nurses couldn't give him enough attention.  It was stressful and heartbreaking for my family.

The best way to cheer everyone up:
Bring in a basket of snacks, crossword puzzles, a dorky stuffed animal, etc.
We would do that every once in awhile.  It helped make the stays easier and gave us something to do.  I threw in a Chicken Soup quote book once, too.

It's now a tradition, anytime a church or family friend goes in the hospital, we bring a basket of goodies.  They usually really appreciate it.

I wish that I'll test within the top 50 on my service wide exam next month (so I can get a promotion next year).

I wish my sister would get off crystal meth so she can actually raise her own children (she has 3 between the ages of 5 and 13) and not have to live as a squatter in my mom's foreclosed house (yeah....)

wrkn thanks for the tips. Unfortunately he's in Florida. He and my grandmother are "snow birds" and hes refusing to come back up here to be treated. My parents and aunts and uncles have been flying down in shifts. If this continues, the grandkids will too. So far hes refusing and it just upsets him for us to come because then we are treating him likes he dying. He also wont come home for this reason...

Thanks ladies.

It's gotten so bad that she has no more bottom teeth left (they're worn down to nubs) and I only recently found out that she and her husband (read: enabler) are squatting. Before then, the last I heard, she was supposed to be doing some prison time for petty theft and drug posession, then going into rehab. That's why my mom volunteered to take her kids in. That was over a year ago.

It tears me up inside that she won't be one of my bridesmaids. She has completely cut herself off from the rest of my family, except for my mom. I still remember her as this bright, smiley girl with light in her eyes. I don't even recognize her now, and it breaks my heart.

I stayed with him in the hospital a few nights.  They were nights when he wasn't sleeping, so I didn't get to either.  He had 5 kids, so they rotated.  Two grandkids participated in the rotation. 
If I could go back, I would've stayed more, even though I was the office zombie. 

Your grandfather sounds like he is in much better shape, though.
I hope you can talk him into moving closer. 
Can you bribe him?..lol.

If this was happening in my family I have no idea how I would handle it - in fact, I'd probably be a mess.  This is just truly awful.  I wish there was something I could do :( She definitely needs an intervention, hard core.
