Snarky Brides

nebb

have you ever read The Mist? apparently it was in Skeleton Crew, which I oddly haven't read, but I just bought it as it's own little paperback.

Re: nebb

  • I read it, but I'm not Nebb.

Stephen King's short stories are my favorite.
    image
  • see, I've always liked his novels better, because there's more time for character development. but this one is like 203 pages long. so I'm hoping it's good.
    is it?
  • I have a short attention span, which is why his short stories appeal to me. It is good. I even enjoyed the movie.

its good, VERY similar to the movie but slightly different (better) ending. I love his short stories too, though my favourites are the long ones.
  • I haven't seen the movie but my H loves it. I'm gonna watch it after I finish the book.
I don't know about fave short story. I like the one about the little boy who gets a camera for his birthday and it shows a dog getting closer and closer to him. that one's creepy.
my least fave is on Just After Sunset, about the dude who got trapped in a porta-john. I wasn't right for a week after that.

I liked the one with the camera and the dog too, I like it when his short stories have open endings rather than be tied up nicely at the end. I think that one is in the same book as the langoliers? I liked that one too. N was also good.

I liked the mist a lot, but I get sorta skeeved whenever its really foggy now.

ooh, the langoliers was good too.

  • I just started watching Dexter :) I'm on season 2. is it weird to find him incredibly sexy?
  • Sorry to just jump in--I loved "Here There Be Tygers"! Definitely worth a re-read.
  • yeah, I don't think I actually read that one cause it doesn't sound familiar at all.

Nope.  Because I'm on that bandwagon.  Best show ever.

  • it is a good 'un. although I think it's super dumb that he's in NA.
and for some reason I hate his sister.
  • It is a good one, but I definitely prefer the novels.  Nothing was as scary to me as some of the scenes from Pet Semetary and Salem's Lot.  And I was so disturbed after reading the one with the house called Sara Laughs--Bag of Bones, I think?

oh god, Bag of Bones, yes. that one was a tear-jerker.
my fave novel may be Carrie though. it was the first one I read.

you know which book I hated? road work.

no, it was the one where this dude refuses to leave his house even though they're tearing it down to build a highway expansion. his wife leaves him, he gets fired, and it's just depressing.

I don't know about the lila thing. lila is his sponsor, right? I don't like her face. and her whole "I'm so different and weird and dark and intriguing" thing is obnoxious.

and yeah, the one where the kids walk is called The Long Walk. it's weird, but I actually kinda like that one.

OH, I remember that one.  I hate the depressing novels.  It's not so bad to read a short story, but his novels are so complex and treat each subject so deeply that the sad ones are overkill for me.  I'm about ready to poke my own eyes out after one of those.

The Long Walk was rough too.

Correct. You'd better get watchin' then we'll talk!  I won't say another word.

Except Lila is such a skank.

  • I have the feeling lila is a skank. I really don't like her and she's only been in two episodes so far.
  • oooh, you know that episode where he finally has the sex with Rita, up against the wall?
    that's my favorite.

I loved bag of bones, it really freaked me out at some points. Geralds game probably freaked me out the most out of all of his books (other than the shining, but I read that when I was 13), that god damn space cowboy.
  • oof, Geralds Game. that one was so creepy. I liked it.

I don't like Delores Claiborn (sp?). probably because the movie upset me so much when I was 12.

I didnt think the book was all that spectacular. I kind of read it just because. I also HATED absolutely HATED blaze, I thought it was an awful book.
