Snarky Brides

A Secret

Am I the only person who thinks this secret is ridiculously contradictory? For some reason, it's pissing me off. I'm not having my repection in a VFW hall, but I still think this chick is a douche.

Just sayin.

Re: A Secret

  • Yeah that is pretty hypocritical.

  • I think it's a case of poor deductive logic.  While I do side-eye brides who spend a crap load of money on a dress and then cheap out on their guests, not ALL brides to that, so it's a poorly contrived thought.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Yeah, I don't get it.

Most of the weddings I have been to have been in churches and fellowship halls or the VFW. Sometimes you don't get a choice, and there's nothing wrong with it.

  • Now that you mention it, that one is kind of obnoxious.

The one I don't get is the one on NPS that says something about how playing with troll dolls as a child = being gay.

  • I think most of the KPS are pretty lame... but that's just me.

  • Also, a VFW hall does not automatically make a wedding bad for your guests. You can do awesome catering, bar and entertainment. Yeah it might not have *the best* view or something, but if you take care of your guests does it really matter?

Basically it's a place where Veterans of wars can go and hang out with their buddies. They rent out halls to make money to provide more things for Veterans to do. Around here, you can drink cheap at a VFW and sing karaoke. Not all are like that. Think Bingo Hall.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, as far as I know. So a VFW hall would be one sponsored by them?

  • I guess I'm one of those brides being talked about in this secret.

My dress is 1400 bucks and we're having our reception in our town's Memorial Hall, which is basically just a huge gym.

But whatever.  It's a small town and pretty much everyone has their receptions there, because it's the only place big enough.  I'll wear my ridiculously expensive dress, for one day, in the gym, and I'll enjoy it, dammit.

    Who freaking gives a rip.

This is why I hate KPS.  It's like this free pass to be snotty bitches for really no good reason at all.
    panther
  • I think it's silly, but I also agree that most KPSs are just silly rants that people don't have the balls to say on the boards.

One thing that KPS has taught me is that there is really a shitton of unnecessary judgement in this world. What a fucking waste of energy.

And who talks shiit about David's Bridal dresses? I've heard people talk shiit about the store, but never the dresses.

Right?  The dresses weren't my style, but they are still nice dresses - and they are a GODSEND for brides on a budget.  I have friends who probably would have eloped if it weren't fror DB.

  • My dress was from DB and I love it. It was inexpensive and worked really well for me. My entire experience there was really positive.

Ugh.  Ok.  I'm done hating on KPS - time to leave work.  Later ladies :)
