WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • Ugh I got rear ended on my way into work today.  We were stopped at a red light and as soon as traffic started to slowly move he hit me.  Luckily I only have a couple of scratches on my bumper.  His car had worse damage then mine.  We had to call the police I am happy that I had a coffee with me it made the situation so much better!!

Hopefully his insurance company will cover the cost to get the scratches buffed out of my bumper.

  • It's the last week for seniors. And today I get an e-mail from a mother asking me if I could give her son a different project to do. He has missed over a month of class and he never does his work. And she contacts me NOW??? We only have 2 more days left with the seniors (including today). It feels like the school doesn't want anything to do with this student- I've tried to help him so much, but there's only so much I can do. I'm pretty frustrated with this.

And I'm annoyed by my FI because we need to re-grade some areas around our house. He said he would take care of it and it has been three months. I discover last night that he hasn't done it because he "thought he had to do it alone". WTF?? How about TELLING me how he felt or just asking people for help??! Did he really think I wasn't going to notice that the project hadn't been done? I'm just irritated by this because the entire time I thought he was planning this, he had no intention of actually doing it. Now he says he'll start it today. I HATE having to tell him to do things- just do it yourself already, you don't need to wait for me to tell you!

Oh no! Are you okay?? I got rear ended twice in three days. I was miserable- my neck hurt so bad! I had to get checked to make sure it wasn't fractured. I hope you're ok!

  • This is only a minor WTF, but it's all I got right now.

I met with my florist last Tuesday to basically re-do our entire look, quote, everything. Some of you may remember my huge life changing flower post about how I found a bouquet picture that made me change my whole flower design around. Yeah.

She still hasn't given me a revised quote. I'm anticipating the cost going up from what is was before, so it's got me all anxious. She didn't shoot down the peonies that were in my inspiration picture, which was good! But it meant that she had to get in touch with her supplier in Cali and see what was available and the costs. She said she'd have something for me early this week. I am impatiently waiting!

  • Besides one of my friends not showing up to my shower on Sunday because she thought it was more important to go to the beach, one of my BM who I've been friends with since the 3rd grade did not show either and I'm really pissed about it.  It started at 12 and she literally called me at 11:30 feigning sick. She said she got home from my bachelorette party on Saturday and felt sick. Well, as it turns out, she went to her friends birthday party Saturday night, stayed out until 5 am drinking, and was hungover. I'm so upset. She always does flaky things like this because she likes to party ALL. THE. TIME. I'm just so frustrated. At first I wasn't too upset because I believed she was sick, but now I'm just shocked. It was my bridal shower..something that happens only once and she's my BM. UGH.

  • Ooh yikes LADY, at least it wasn't worse!

My WTF is wedding related. My FILs sent out our U.S. wedding invites since it saved a lot of postage to send them locally rather than from the UK. We left them about 7 without addresses on the envelopes to use in case any got lost in the mail and we had to resend. Well, it looks like that has happened, so I asked them to send one again to a family member, and it turns out they don't have anymore extras. My FFIL decided to hand them out at work to his sr. mgt. team, all of whom neither my FI or I have met. Of course, none of these random guys are coming to our wedding, but still WTF? Why invite them?? Our wedding isn't even in the same state as they live/work, plus they don't know us. When we asked him why he did it, he said "it seemed like the right thing to do." Huh??

  • Ugh, I hate car accidents... glad it wasn't anything major, LADY.

My WTF is that I contracted a chest cold from someone at my shower on Sunday.  Working out with a chest cold SUCKSSS.

Other than that, I'm seriously on top of the world lately.

That sucks!  I hate when anything happens to my car.  The good thing is that it wasn't major.  Have you taken the car on the highway yet?  Anytime that I have gotten rear-ended, I have ended up with alignment issues and the car shakes like a mother anytime it goes over 50 MPH until it's fixed.  Hopefully that won't be an issue for you or the other insurance would cover that repair.
  • Lady glad you are ok and it wasnt worse!

MY WTF is that I didnt fall asleep last night until Oh I dont know about 5am!  And then I had to be on my feet all day today at a conference, NOT FUN!  I can't sleep right whenever I am not with FI and it is even worse when i am not in my own bed!  I can not wait for this week to be over and for me to be back in the states!
  • Aww Colleen, jet lag is the WORST. It pretty much takes a whole week to adjust to the time here, so you'll probably be good by about the time you have to leave :-/

Get out in the sun and eat at the normal times for the locals. That helps me adjust the easiest.

  • Lady I'm glad you are okay! Sometimes the minor accidents are worse than the big ones because they cause so many headaches later on.

My WTF today is that my keurig machine stopped working this morning! WTF, I need my coffee.  I called customer service and I have to do some cleaning that I just did three weeks ago again before they will consider taking it back.

    Anniversary
  • Ugh LADY that sucks! I hate car issues. Anything car-related can suck it.

Mekiakoo, my FI feels your pain re: students, parents, and schools. I hear stories like that from him way more often than I should, and it sucks.

Bmore, I would be soooooo mad at my FILs if that did that! I have no words for how bizarre and stupid what they did is!

  • I contacted one of FI's friends last week to ask for his girlfriend's last name for the invitation. He said they broke up. They were together in January so it must have been in the last few months and FI and I didn't know. He said he would love to bring someone and that there was a girl he had in mind, so he gave me her name. There was no mention that this was the friend's girlfriend. So FI said he wouldn't get a plus one and we addressed the invitation to the friend only and explained the situation to him.  Now, the friend is arguing with FI about how he is seriously dating the girl and how he should be able to bring her.

If they were serious, why did he tell me the first time? I think he's just pissed he can't bring the girl he's banging. I have this weird feeling he'll try to bring her even if we say no. I'm staying out of it and letting FI make the final decision, but I'm annoyed at the idea of paying for someone that is a casual date of one of our guests.
  • oh my god, LADY, I hope you are OK!! If you have any concerns at all about anything hurting/feeling bad/etc. GO TO THE DOCTOR!! better safe than sorry and it is helpful for potential insurance issues that my come up in the future.

Bmore that is the craziest thing I have ever heard!!!! do you even know these people's names?!? It sounds like he just handed them out like they were cookies or something, that absolutely blows my mind!!!! I would be absolutely LIVID!

My WTF is that I have never been so stressed in my WHOLE LIFE. I have been living with this feeling in my stomach/head of butterflies, stress, nausea, etc. for the past week. Buying a house the same week that you have to assemble and mail 155 invitations that each have 12 pieces to them is more than I can take. my mom called me this morning freaking out about making sure our organist from the church is available the day of our wedding. I am 99.9% sure that our coordinator already did this but i blew up and was like MOM I AM BUYING A HOUSE I AM SPENDING 6 HOURS A DAY WORKING ON OUR INVITATIONS I CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE RIGHT NOW UNLESS YOU WANT TO COME AND WORK ON MY SUMMARY JUDGMENT MOTIONS FOR ME AT WORK. whew. Oh, and fiance and I are leaving for Orlando tomorrow, I wish we weren't going now because I have too freakin much to do.

And we are meeting with our mortgage broker for the first time tonight and I am nervie and feel like puking.
  • Thanks everyone we were literally going 2 mph so luckily I was not hit hard at all.  At penny I had to drive on the highway after to get to work and it was fine.  I literally just have scratches on my bumper.  I don't have any dents or anything so hopefully I don't have any future problems with it.  They guy was really nice too and apologized his car is way worse then mine.  I drive a Jeep so my car is high up he had a Honda Civic so my bumper actually dented the hood of his car.

    I don't have a WTF.

Today is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL UNTIL MID-AUGUST!!! Yayyy!!

So, I don't have much going on over the summer. My Fi and a ton of my friends are teachers so we just all bum around together.

Tonight FI, FSIL, FI's friend, and I are going to the Sox game. FSIL got some awesome free tix from the people she nannys for. We're all Cub fans, but we can't pass up a ballgame.

Tomorrow, we're going to a bar called 'Saddle-Up Saloon' to kick off the summer. They play county music and line dancing for the majority of the night.

  • I haven't been around much because my internet isn't on at home right now, and I have no cable, but I have a few doozies from this week that I've been storing up. Well I've had a stiff neck for about a week because of stress. I know I complained a while ago about my FI not working, well he went out and got a "job" only the guy was a low life scum bag and never paid my FI so we're so far behind on bills I'm drowning. So I have a sit down heart to heart with him the other night about how I feel like he's taking advantage of me because he knows I'm working and will cover the rent, but we have other bills to pay and I can't pay them. SO he finally listened and went back to working for my father. However that doesn't take away all the bills that are past due and so late things are getting shut off.

Well one of the bills that I couldn't keep up with was for my engagement ring. He bought it on a credit card when he had a really good paying job and within a few months he lost that job because that company was being bought by another company and you know how that goes, so we've been struggling but still making payments, well now I can't, so I had to voluntarily surrender my ring back to the store. Luckily we bought my wedding band with cash so we can keep that.

However I'm lucky enough that my parents are paying for most of our wedding, and it's looking like we're going to have a lot less guests than originally thought because we're getting a lot of my family that can't come when I thought they would be able to and no responses at all from my FI's family other than siblings. So my parents will end up paying less for the wedding and they're going to pay for our honeymoon because they know how stressed I am and how much I need a vacation.

But yeah I've had some MAJOR WTF's lately, but some great moments too, so I'm on a roller coaster of emotion and pretty much emotionally drained and been crying every day to every other day.

But yeah I've had some MAJOR WTF's lately, but some great moments too, so I'm on a roller coaster of emotion and pretty much emotionally drained and been crying every day to every other day.

oh wow I am so sorry that you guys are in a really tough financial position right now.  I am really sorry that you had to give up your engagement ring.  That must have been really tough for you.  Can they hold it for you so when your FI starts working again you can try to buy it back before the wedding?

  • My WTF is work-related, as usual.

The effing paralegal on my case just doesn't do his job - just ignores emails and doesn't do what I ask - ever. It's not that it's delayed; it's that he doesn't do it.

I got YELLED at by supervisor this morning, because I should have "checked to make sure he was doing what I asked". I can't  F U C K I N G  do my job and the paralegal's job. I'm already here 20 hours a day.

    I HATE THIS JOB.

  • Oh my gosh singing_lyn, I am so sorry you're going through such a rough time! Giving your e-ring back must've been so tough, but I like LADY's suggestion of asking them to hold it so that you can hopefully get it back soon. And that is super awesome of your parents to pay for your honeymoon. It's a good thing to have such a supportive family when you're going through some really crappy things. I really hope things start looking up for you guys soon!
