Good Morning?

Hola!

How is everyone this morning?

I keep waking up insanely early for a person who isn't working. That being said, if we keep unpacking at this rate we may never actually finish. We are accomplishing very little every day. It doesn't help that DH has some sort of flu/cold and spend a good portion of the day in bed yesterday either. Kinda blows.

Re: Good Morning?

  • Morning. Dude, these Olympics are RUINING MY LIFE! I didn't get to bed until 11:30pm last night (don't worry, I won't post spoilers), and tonight is probably going to be much the same since it's the men's gymnastics all-around finals. I told my husband last night that they need to stop airing the good events so late at night. For instance, when I got home yesterday around 4:15pm, it was skeet shooting. Pretty sure I don't care about that as an Olympic sport (it is fun to do as a hobby, but it bores me). I'm a horribly selfish Olympics-watcher.

Not much going on today. I might run when I get home from work. I'm trying to take it a little easy since 1) I'm still dealing with piriformis syndrome in my right butt cheek/leg, and 2) I'm breaking in a new pair of running shoes that are significantly more minimalist than my Asics.

  • Good morning!

Not much going on here other than work.  I'm still dreaming crazy stuff - I think the melatonin is to blame.  I don't mind, since it's better than not being able to sleep.

  • Morning. H totally spoiled the Olympics for me last night. He came home and was like "This is what happened in gymnastics!". I told him I was watching that and swimming and that he just gave me a spoiler. His response? "This is what happened in swimming!". WTF! Oh well. I have this awful migraine and I want nothing more than to remain in bed all day. We are busy at work though so I'm going to try to make it today. I took some aleve so maybe that will take the edge off.

  • Morning all!  I went for a run last night after work and I now have so many freaking bug bites.  I look like a kid that just came back from summer camp.  I think tonight I may go up to the Y's outdoor track and run since it isn't as wooded there as it is in my neighborhood.

I have more interviews today at work.  They are so freaking awkward and I will be glad when we're done.  Other than that my day will be business as usual.

OH it's August 1st!  This means that football tickets start being mailed out today!!  I cannot wait to get them and for the season to start!

  • Ugh, I loathe mosquitos. The only thing that even takes the edge off for me is taking Claritin/Benadryl and applying an ice pack.
Morning everyone. Question: if I'm breaking in a new pair of shoes and I have a blister, will it go away eventually once the shoes are broken in?  Is there anything I should be doing?
    Posted by edielaura
Yes, it will.  You will develop a callous where the new shoes are rubbing differently and will be fine once they're broken in.  I just wear a band-aid on the hot spot (if necessary) until I've worn them a few times.

Where is the blister? Couple you put a bandaid?

  • Well, I currently have Angry Birds band-aids, so I think you're fine.  8-)

Edie, if you can get your hands on some moleskin, that will work too. I used it a lot when I hiked. It sticks better than a bandaid, too. Breaking in shoes sucks. I love getting new shoes but I hate breaking those suckers in! And, good morning, ladies!
  • Band-aid makes a specific blister model that is fantastic.  They're a weird squishy texture, but they work great, and are designed to stay on for a couple of days.
Good morning! Does anyone have the magic bullet blender or something similar? I'm sick of using our big blender for one darn smoothie in the morning.

FI used to have one...he liked it when he used it.
  • I have one, Duds.  It's great to quickly mix one smoothie without making a sinkful of dirty dishes.  I make my smoothie and take it with me in the morning.  I would recommend it (mine is some other brand, but the same idea.)

I can't link from the iPad, sorry. I prefer this over bandaids.
  • Duds, I had one when they first came out and it was great!

  • We're breaking down some expired lab kits today and I am snagging all the bandaids for shoes issues. I should look into getting moleskin too.

We're going out to a nice dinner tonight since it is restaurant week. The deals really just mean we eat more food and spend the same amount that we usually would. We're going to the same restaurant where we celebrated our engagement and I am quite excited.

I did 30DS this morning like I said I would so I am pretty proud of myself. Unfortunately I have the damn music stuck in my head now.

You can custom cut them to the size coverage area you want. Plus they're flexible...I've used it on a pinky toe. Bandaids never stick to my toes, but these did when I got a hot spot on the baby toe.
  • You can also stick a strip of moleskin to the inside of a shoe for cushioning.

They should. I get mine at the drug store, but I don't see why the foot aisle at the grocery store wouldn't have them.
Good morning!   I think I'm getting a cold.  I keep sneezing and my nose has been stuffy for a few days.  Blah. Has anyone ever tried that blister block? I think it's also made by Bandaid, but it's like a waxy thing you apply before you wear the shoes and it's supposed to prevent blisters.
    Posted by djhar
I haven't tried it...I may check that out. I have my wedding shoes to break in.
  • Morning ladies!

I slept like crap last night, I had a full on Zombie dream, with story lines, characters, and it went on for what felt like days! I got up at 5:30 to use the bathroom, and when I came back it started again! I can only figure between husbands shinanigans and the fact that we watched The Mist Sunday and I figured out that 3 of the characters from it are on TWD probably left it on my mind.

The boy is getting to big for his bedtime crate in the bedroom, so we've moved him to his living room crate, I put a blanket on the outside to make it all cozy for him. He seems to be sleeping longer now.

Have to go home, finish up a little laundry and start packing. I want to have most everything packed by tomorrow night so I can throw in the essentials last and head out early Friday afternoon.

I love my step-daughter to death but I hope this BF thing in NYC doesnt come up while we are there, she's all for it and I have to bite my tongue! :)

  • It's a good workout that builds on itself.  You can do as little as 20 minutes, or as much as 60 minutes.  I like it to supplement other stuff I do (bicycling, hiking).  I got it on Amazon for about $8.

I'll take a look at it. I prefer to work out at home, but I also love going to the gym for my elliptical work out.

<div>Yeah, pretty much this. I am trying to use it on my non-gym days.</div><div>
</div><div>When I first did it about a year ago it really kicked my ass. I was massively, terribly out of shape and I could barely walk for a few days afterwards. Now that I have been a lot more active it still gives me a good workout but I don't feel like death afterwards. </div><div>
</div><div>The hardest part I had with it was the impact of the jumping jacks and stuff. My knees and ankles did not like that. Now we live on the third floor so I modify the cardio section so there is no high impact stuff. </div>

  • I'm considering canceling my gym membership.  I really want to get into a routine of running outside and doing yoga in which case I wouldn't need the gym.  I have this really weird fear of canceling though lol.  It's completely irrational and totally a mental roadblock, like even though I'm doing the same if not more intense stuff at home, I'm a slacker for not going to the gym.  I don't know, I'm weird about weight/working out stuff and I get down on myself a lot (I always have).

  • Ugh all of this blister talk is making me nervous about my shoes.  I really need to break them in and practice walking around in them.  I want to find that blister block stuff.

I came in early today to get a head start on my experiment.  I'm meeting one of my best friends and BMs who finally moved back to the area tonight.  I'm pretty excited about that.

Side note:  The Olympics are killing me too.  It was funny that I was gritting my teeth and on the edge of my seat during women's gymnastics even though I already knew the outcome.  I could not believe Russia's mistakes during beam.  Crazy.
