Music

Has anyone started finalizing their ceremony music?  FI and i  are having a string quartet and they will play music for 15 mins before the service, 2 processionals, 2 songs during the ceremony and 1 recessional.  As of right now we are planning on having the church organist.

What are you girls doing?

Re: Music

  • Our dj is playing for the ceremony too. I have some classical style music picked out for that. He is also singing our first dance song to us since its Frank Sinatra.

  • I have to talk to the church before I can select ceremony music... just in case. We have talked about it, and have ideas, but I need to make sure we can use secular music. As for the reception music? hahahahahahhaa. no. We need to, though.
  • The string quartet gave us a list of suggested songs, so that's helped a ton.  I know my church is a no go on contemporary music, ecept for the time before the ceremony.

We have to use the church organist for our wedding (which is totally cool because I like him).  For the reception, we are having a dj (FI's cousin owns a deejaying company and they offered).  They will likely have background music going during cocktail hour.

  • Rochelle have to you started thinking of songs yet?  That's what I'm trying to get an idea of today, what songs we want when.

<div>I haven't though about it.  We are having our last meeting with the Reverend on Apr 6 where we will talk about the logistics of the wedding.  Then, I plan to talk to the organist and let him take the lead regarding what songs to play.  I will update you when I know more!</div>

Have you guys decided on if you are going with an Irish song during the ceremony?

  • We are going to do the "Irish Blessing" before the ceremony.  I can't really find a place during the ceremony for it.  My pickle right now is trying to figure out a song for the moms to walk in to.  I have it narrowed down to 3 and may ask my mom if she likes one over the others.
  • So far, I'm thinking Canon in D for the bridesmaids and Trumpet Voluntary for me.

Nothing else known yet. We have a string trio for the ceremony and dj for the cocktail hour and reception

  • We haven't spoken to an organist yet, but what we use will be based on what's in the organist's repertoire.

  • We are using an Ipod/Iphone for our ceremony music. We still need to pick our songs though and set them up to play when appropriate.

Since my fiance is a sound engineer, he's very excited to finagle a mix for the ceremony, perfectly timed to when everyone walks, I come out, and when they annouce us. We're having a mariachi band for the cocktail hour, and a sweet dj for the reception.

Are you walking to an instrumental of "a thousand years" or the song with the lyrics? I really like that song!

Edit: I assume you are walking to an instrumental since you are having a string trio for the ceremony. Reading fail!
