I do not need Rudeness when I am asking a question!

Jeeze!  Called the county clerk's office for questions about our marriage license.  She was explaining to me how we can get it 30 days before but our officiant has to have it in his hands 10 days before or something...well I wasn't understanding what she was talking about and she was getting rude with me!  Jeeze lady sorry I haven't done this before.  Can anyone explain this to me :(

  • I freakin' hate that! Just because they do this all day, everyday does not give them the right to be snappy. blah!
  • I would try posting on your local board.  Every state has different guidelines.  Im going to get mine today or tomorrow and can check but it might not be the same for your state.  You could also do a google search.  Your state site should have something.  At least NH does.

  • Your officiant might be able to help too. He/she should know the local policies and will probalby be much nicer about it.

  • Agreed with PP. Ask your officiant... I don't know what these clerk's offices think... some of us are doing this for the first time and don't know what protocol is! You'd probably like to be legally married at the end of this so I'd say you just want to know the deal! Sorry that happened to you. Hopefully your officiant will know more...

Check your officiant and online of the State you are getting married in. For example this link might help, http://okc.about.com/od/statecapital/ht/marriagelicense.htm .

  • I am not sure were you are from but for ours you can pick it up 60 days before and the Officiant has to RETURN it within 10 days for it to be legal. Maybe this is what she meant?
