Is it just me?

Or does anyone else feel like some of the vendors are being really really informal through email, almost rude at times?

I emailed the lady doing my hair and makeup and her responses are listed as bullet points that start with, "as far as" and "I've spoken with so and so and we agreed upon" or "I am willing to honor so and so's fees" (assistant is doing my hair rather than regular lady who I booked with but than realized she was going to be away on a honeymoon.

I emailed my officiant stating we mailed his final payment and to keep and eye out for it, just to be courteous. All I got back was "thanks" It just seemed really short and just blah.

Maybe I am overreacting but I feel like I have to email these questions or send these emails to make sure I have everything covered. It's almost like I am borthering them. Whatever it is, it just seems weird to me. I am used to happy cheery emails I guess..

Same issue here. The worst was when I had to deal with our priest backing out and having the deacon do our ceremony since we're not having a full mass. considering how much our priest was hyped up to be such a personable guy  it was a real bummer dealing with him through his emails. he was so cold!

I guess I feel you shouldn't get into the wedding business if you can't be excited and happy for the couple that's getting married - especially if you're mainly dealing with the bride! 

Our contact at the hall has been AMAZING though. She is super excited whenever we deal with her and her assistant is the same way - it's wonderful. Same with our photobooth guy he's all sorts of hyped up all the time. LOL so I'm glad I at least have those kinds of people to keep us going

I got a fair warning when I got engaged, that I think has helped me stay balanced through this - no one will be as excited as you will be for your wedding; they'll still be excited, but it's not one of the biggest events of their lives.

I don't get happy emails, I get business ones.  It's not nearly as fun as happy emails, but it is what it is.  After all, it is just another day of business for these guys.  It's rough, but it is.  Don't take it personally, and keep your enthusiasm up, but I'd let them off the hook as long as they're doing their respective jobs and have all the notes they need (and are using them.)

Same here... well just from my flower person... She has been very short, and almost snippy. Then when I went to pay in person somehow my balance had changed by $200, I nicely freaked out, pulled out my paperwork, and it was changed back... She seems very shadey to me... and because of all of this I don't plan to give her a great review. At this point she better hope that those flowers turn out great so I can at least say one nice thing about here... bc at this point I've got nothing.

I agree with Lobsters. Vendors rent going to be excited and gush this is a business for them they are communicating professionally as they should. You also can't determine tone from email. I have frequently seen situations at work get blown out of proportion because somebody misinterpreted the tone of an email. Don't be bothered if others aren't as excited/concerned/ happy as you are.

Would you mind sending me a PM with this vendor's name? I'm not using a florist, but one of my friends is... she's getting married in October and if she needs to be on the lookout for extra charges, I'd love to give her a heads-up... thanks :)

People can just be plain unprofessional via email. I look at it this way, I am in a sort of customer service related position in that I work in University development (fundraising). If one of my donors emailed me that they sent in a donation I would NEVER just write back "Thanks." Vendors really shouldn't behave that way either.

I had a lady at the hotel that has my room block act like a total beeyotch on the phone to me on Monday. I was not even being snippy with her or anything, just asking for clarification on some things! It left such a bad taste in my mouth that if I had it to do over again I probably would not have used them. I realize we're not having our wedding there so it's not like they are making tons of money from us, but I would say a few thousand dollars in room bookings is worth at least some common courtesy.

Thank God, I have never had that problem with our vendor. They have always been courteous on the phone and emails. Their response time is almost immediate, as soon as their office opens. I am looking forward to meeting them in person.

I think that most vendors have so many e-mails to send and respond to that they just try to be as to-the-point as possible.  Most are just trying to be efficient, not rude.  However, it is hard to tell sometimes because tone can't be conveyed well via e-mail.  

We have had a couple of problems with our DJ (scheduling issues since he apparently overbooked himself), and have been e-mailing back and forth to try to resolve them.  He is always very brief in his e-mails, but I can't help wondering if he is annoyed.  So I can definitely understand where you are coming from!

I like getting cheery emails from my friends and family, but it would feel fake for vendors who hardly know me to act excited about my wedding. It's business for them. That's why they're making us pay, lol.  I wouldn't worry about it. E-mail your FI if you want a pick-me-up :)
