NON-SWEET WEDDING CAKES?

Are all wedding cakes just not sweet? I went with my beautiful fiance to a cake tasting and every bite tasted like they had forgot to use sugar. I was shocked at how bad they were. She seemed to love it. Maybe I'm crazy but I like a cake to be sweet. The baker said they use bitter sweet chocolate to keep it from being "too sweet". But it was like eating a mistake.

So again, I ask all you brides out there, are wedding cakes in general just designed to not taste like regular  cakes? Is that like a thing?

Please let a soon to be doting husband know wha's whats on this.

But it was like eating a mistake.

    ^^^Love this.^^^

That seems weird to me.  All the cakes that I tasted were plenty sweet...I mean, they were definitely as sweet as any other cake I've ever had.

I would try another bakery or two before committing to see if it was the cakes that were the problem or if they just all seem weird to you.

Definitely try another baker, especially if you didn't like this one. There's no rule about HAVING to use a baker you had a tasting with. That's what tastings are for.

That's strange, because even the bad wedding cake I've had was sweet.  I'd try another baker.

I'd def try another baker and go to more tastings. You should be happy with your cake. I haven't tasted any non-sweet cake but I did taste a couple too sweet cakes.

I usually have the opposite complaint :-P

Try other bakers, there are SO many out there and each have their own style.

My FI and I loled at this :-).

Cake is supposed to be sweet, I would think.  I'm thinking the bakery you tried out was full of fail, or at the very least wasn't your style.  I'd try out other bakeries before making a final choice.

You should definitely try another baker. Like a PP mentioned, every baker has their own style.

    Good luck!
