skipping wedding favors??

My fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves, and trying to save money. I read an article on cost-saving and one thing they suggested was skipping the reception favors, since most of them get tossed anyway when people are home. I can totally agree with that because I have done it myself. Is it rude to not have any party favors? I was thinking of doing a candy table with little bags they can fill and take home as favors, but then I don't want to get stuck with too much afterwards if guests don't take anything home. Is it wrong to do away with that?

Other than people planning their own weddings, I don't think anyone really notices if there are no favors. FI and I will be skipping favors for our wedding, as well...

No one will care if there aren't any favors. If it isn't in your budget, I would say definitely skip them!

I plan on skipping them as well, but my mom kind of wants to have them :-P We'll see how that pans out. But favors are definitely NOT a requirement that's for sure.

We were going to have favours but the bakery we were using closed down. At this point we aren't having any due to lack of funds. I don't think they are necessary and even if people notice, no one cares.

I agree with the other ladies in that favors are not a requirement.  However, the candy table idea is adorable and fun.  I have heard from relatives and friends that went the candy table route that they were stuck with so many left overs that they ended up packaging them and saving it for Halloween to hand out to the trick-or-treaters!  Keep in mind, none of these weddings were in the fall, so that's a long time to hold on to un-used candy.  Best of luck!

At my FsisterIL's wedding she just put small chocolates along the tables (think kisses and bite size ones from the grocery store), I remember loving it!  It was great to snack on before the dinner got started, then later on into the night.
