Hi ladies, I'm a new poster to this board. I am seeking some feedback on doing a plated dessert vs having a wedding cake,
We are doing a classic 4 course meal and have 6 amazing desserts to choose from if we opt to do the plated dessert.
Will we shock guests if we don't have a cake? Will people appreciate a classic dessert vs a slice of hit or miss wedding cake?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
*EDIT* The plated dessert is already included in our package. For a cake, we'd have to purchase the cake and pay a $3 pp cutting fee. The desserts we can choose from are:
warm chocolate cake, fudge sauce, malted milk ice cream
lemon “meringue”, blueberry syrup, ginger ice cream
praline & caramel mille- feuille, banana ice cream
seasonal berry tart, brown sugar crème, balsamic reduction
neopolitan crème cake, vanilla sauce, strawberry ice cream
dark chocolate tart, cocoa nib tuile, mint julep ice cream

If you're not doing a cake cutting, I would totally do a plated dessert! I think it would be a fun, tasty, elegant alternative to wedding cake-- I'm not a big cake person though. Personally, I'd want the mille feuille, but I know that a lot of people don't like banana in their dessert. Otherwise, the berry tart or the Neopolitan cake--yum!

However, if you don't have your heart set on a wedding cake I say go for the plated dessert, no need to spend the extra money on something you don't want.
