Anyone else have hypothyroidism?

I'm incredibly frustrated with the lack of results I'm receiving. For a time, I was going to the gym 5 days a week and alternating between cardio and resistance training. I haven't lost any weight and, in fact, I've gained it. I finally went to the doctor and he did some blood work, telling me that I have hypothyroidism and that my metabolism has "significantly decreased" over the last year. I was actually happy to hear the news! Finally I had some reason for the lack of results. On Thursday, I started taking Synthroid to help with my thyroid problems. I will take it for a month and see how it affects me. But here's my current issue, I'm a size 26/28 now and would love to be a size 14 (btw, I'm 6' and have a large bone structure. I'm willing to settle with an 18 or so if I know I've done all that I can do) for my wedding on 10/11/12. I'm sure it's possible, it just might take a lot of hard work. I'm prepared for this! Really, I am. But recently I lost my workout partners and the gyms, quite frankly, terrify me when I'm alone. I always feel like people are judging me. I eat healthy and I do try to stay active but that has decreased with the loss of my partners. Does anyone else have hypothyroidism? Has Synthroid helped you? What have you been doing to help with your weight loss? Can ANYONE help me? I'm miserable and just don't want to feel this way anymore.
