Getting in Shape

Newbie intro

Hi, my name is Lauren and my fianc's name is Sam. We are getting married in October of this year. I've been lurking and occasionally posting since September, but I don't think I've ever posted on this board so I thought I'd introduce myself :

I finally went out and bought healthy, whole foods tonight...mad dash after the Patriots game, couldn't miss that!! So I am now officially starting to get back on track healthwise and fitnesswise. I've done Weight Watchers twice, lost 25 lbs each time, kept it off for about 68 months before slowly gaining it all back. I know what I need to do, but definitely needing motivation so I thought I would call myself out and start being accountable.

Looking forward to getting healthy again and feeling better! Edit: apologies for formatting issues and missing hyphens, stupid iPhone!

Re: Newbie intro

  • Hi Lauren - I'm also trying to lose about 30 lbs - have let myself go and absolutely want to look my best on my wedding day. I'm counting calories and trying to workout as much as I can. It isn't easy, but I keep trying.

  • Hi Lauren! I'm new to this board as well and hoping, like you, for some accountability by putting myself out there! I hope soon we can both start sharing stories of how much weight we are losing and how great we feel!!!

  • Hi ladies! Good luck to both of you on your journey. My biggest struggle is finding a weight loss and maintenance plan that works for me and is sustainable. I found I was able to lose the weight both times but sustaining it over time is the real challenge. So hopefully the third time is a charm!

  • If you aren't having trouble losing weight, just keeping it off, then it might be time to make some permanent changes to your lifestyle to make maintenance easier. You shouldn't look at it as a short term diet, you shoudl look at it as a lifestyle change.

  • Absolutely, this time around I'm definitely more focused on my overall lifestyle and trying to think in terms of being healthy, vs losing a certain amount of weight. There's really no excuse, I just need to find a balance so that I'm not either going completely overboard or doing nothing at all.
