What do you think about these "methods"

So I've found these two articles that I'm sure many have seen going around online, and I'm just not sure how healthy these are going to be as well as effective.
 and

So my thoughts if I'm not actually crazy for doing this would be to do both the water and the food for 1 week to see what kind of pounds I could shed. I regularly exercise so that would just go along with this. Any thoughts?

Re: What do you think about these "methods"

  • The 5 lbs of bloat can be kicked just by regulating your salt intake while upping your water and fiber intake.

The second one, the "diet" sounds terrible.  it's just so weird-restrictive.  Even if it did work (which I doubt) quick weight loss like that is generally mostly water weight and not sustainable.  plus, 8 bananas in one day does not sound healthy.
  • A coworker of mine tried the 2nd diet. She was eating potatoes for breakfast also. Not only is it incredibly unappetizing, it doesn't work. Like most other fads, you may lose in the short term, but you gain it all back (and some more) after. She was very unhappy both during & after the program.
  • The first method doesn't help you lose fat, only water weight, which is pointless in the long term. The GM diet sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. You should focus on eating a healthy diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, healthy protein and healthy carbs every day, not eating one food group per day.

They both sound bad; especially the GM diet. Ugh!

  • Not into this sort of thing... I don't think it really helps you out in the long run.

As soon as you go back to eating like a normal person, what happens? I wouldn't trust it. Anything that limits you to eating ONE thing is bonkers.

I wouldn't do it. I think it would be unappetizing as well as mentally exhausting - but that's just my take.

  • Dropping water weight is no big deal... I am always careful about what I eat a couple/few days before an event so i can look/feel like a rockstar ;)

    Regarding the second "diet"..
I have the best diet for you:
    -fruits
    -vegetables
-lean meats (pork tenderloi, chicken, turkey... serving sizes about the size of a deck of cards)
    -Whole wheats
-legumes (go lentils, lima beams, black, kidney, etc)
    -seeds (quinoa!)
    -Water water water

    There. All done :o
  • This GM diet is CRAP.  Cutting out the majority of food groups is ridiculous.  My body wouldn't function for anything without lean proteins, vegetables, etc.  Just fruits and lots of it?  Not smart.  Your body is not getting NEARLY the amount of macro and micronutrients that it needs.

Eat healthy.  Everything in moderation.  Track your calories in versus calories out.  There's no magic in weight loss -- eat healthy and exercise.

  • Pardon the disrespect, but that diet is the dumbest damn thing I ever heard. You can lose just as much water weight doing Phase I of South Beach, or the attack phase of the Dukan diet, or any strict diet that limits carbs without going cuckoopants and giving yourself the runs and/or scurvy.
  • The first one is basically just drinking water - as anna pointed out, you can lose water weight from monitoring salt and drinking more water.

The second one looks awful. Any diet that cuts out food groups like that is no bueno, and I esp see red flags when they claim you can lose 10 lbs in a week. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week, those increments can be maintained and they help insure the weight loss is permanent. As a PP pointed out - they weight is going to come right back.
