Getting in Shape

hate running but...

So. I hate running with a passion, and for some stupid reason I agreed to sign up for a 10K mud run.

I can barely run for 2 minutes before I need to stop and walk.. and can usually only do that about 4 times then Im over it and just walk.

The Mud run isnt until June...

Tips, suggestions HELP PLEASE!

Re: hate running but...

  • I'm think about doing the mud run here in June as well. I don't if FH will go for it, it's only a few weeks before the wedding and he is worried I'll hurt myself. I'm starting a bootcamp next week that it is suppose to help get me into a shape other then round. I'm also doing zumba and the gym. I'm hoping once I build up a little stamina I'll be able to run a little bit better. I'm with you though, unless someone is chasing me I just don't see the point in running.
  • I didn't love running in the beginning because I was discouraged at how bad I was at it. I huffed and puffed and could barely run for 2 minutes. I grew to love it. It was so easy to quantify my progress (what started as 2 minutes of running turned into 5, then 10, then 15). I signed up for races, which are a blast. I don't know very many people who started out loving running. Stick with it! I will say I not only love running, I am obsessed with it. I'm training for my second marathon and 4 years ago I could only run for 2 minutes.

Also...I've done a 10K mud run. They are all different, but the one I did didn't require more than probably 1/2 a mile of running between each obstacle. So...I don't think you necessarily need to be able to run 6 miles.

    Hope that helps!

I keep saying I need to learn how to run because in some horrible disaster or a killer coming after me, I would be the first one dead haha
