COLOR RUN

Has anyone run one of these? I am signed up to run the NYC Color Run the weekend before my wedding; is this a bad idea, do i have to worry about my (blonde) hair getting dyed or skin changing color? Didn't really think about that when I signed up but it looks like so much fun! Please advise!!!

No. It's not paint, it's powder. it'll come right off when you shower. Although, you might be blowing it out of your nose for a week

Actually, I've heard that it will stain your hair. (Not your skin so much.) But especially if you have pale hair, you should probably wear a bandana or something.

I still don't understand the appeal of this type of race. But have fun!

I did one here a few weeks ago, after one shower most of the color was gone except in spots where I sweat more but it was all gone after two. I have dark hair but my friend with dirty blonde hair didn't have a problem. I've heard for really light hair they recommend putting in a leave in conditioner and wearing a bandana helps prevent any coloring of your hair.

I run a lot of 5Ks and wanted to try The Color Run too in Philly. But I was afraid of breathing in the powder part.

I did one last month (actually i am wearing my shirt from it today lol) I loved it but part of my face was green for a few days.   It was one of the "wet" colors. (they mixed the green powder with water and sprayed us so it lasted longer than the powder only) It was a blast!! I would definetly recommend doing it! As long as it's not a day or two before your wedding

I did one last month. It was a lot of fun!

I have blonde hair and the color was gone after the first wash. Because it's your wedding though, I might wear a hat.

The only place the color stuck around after the first shower was in my armpits. Kinda strange I know. (This may be TMI, but) I think from the sweat and the color running, it became more liquidy in that area. It was definitely gone within a week though.

Also, this. The first time I blew my nose after, I was mortified. I thought it was dried blood.

Isn't it just colored corn starch? I mean, it's not poison or anything.

if you're really worried about the color staining your skin, lemon and/or oil (olive, coconut, etc) with some epsom salt with scrub that stuff right off no problem. I agree with others, that if you have seriously blonde hair, you may want to consider a bun/hat. 

Also run in the middle lanes. YOu get hit with less there.

I ran this race a about a month ago.  (SO FUN!)  I had a lot of color in my hair for several days afterwards.  My friend made sure her hair was pretty dirty and also wore a bandana and she was fine.    Have fun!

Not sure where you are but my friends are doing this one on Sept 1st... maybe it is better timing?  I am probably over-conservative, but I wouldn't want to take any chances a week before my wedding.

Thanks for all of your feedback! I think I am going to cover up my hair well and coat it with a leave in condtioner & use vaseline all over (esp my armpits) and hope I am fine, it looks like so much fun I dont want to miss out! Sep 1 is the day after the wedding so that won't work but thanks for the option!

Color Run is a blast. I also have seen girls with shower caps on with sweat band ha. And dont forget the garbage bags/ for the car seats haha. plastic bag for your phone if you are going to carry it!! Random tips that i noticed when I went.
