Breakfast on-the-go?

Anyone have suggestions for a healthy breakfast I can take with me on the way to work? Or something I could bring and eat once I get there that doesn't need to be heated?
I'm horrible at waking up early enough to give myself time to eat breakfast, but I know I need to stop skipping it. I'd gladly prep something the night before, but I'm not really sure what to make.

I've tried Slimfast shakes but could never get past the taste. Special K bars don't fill me enough. I'm searching through Google now, but was hoping for some personal recommendations here of what has actually worked for others. TIA!

  • weezie thank you so much for posting that link!!! I made two batches last night (with honey, cinnamon, and fresh apples) and it was so delicious - my fiance loved it too! I can't wait to try more varieties. It is a great way to eat "oatmeal" during the warmer months!
  • I have a big Costco-sized box of Quaker oatmeal packs in my desk. They're the little pouches which average 150 calories a piece. Pretty good way to start the day.

I have 1 or 2 hard boiled eggs and some fruit and coffee most mornings. I boil a dozen eggs on Sunday and they're good to go.

I really like whole wheat breakfast wraps or english muffins filled with: Egg whites, spinach, and peppers. Two veggies for breakfast, a lean protein to keep you full, and whole wheat give you an awesome start!

  • Try bringing cereal and a thermos of milk to work with you.  or if you have an office/cubicle, leave a box of it there and just bring milk.  They say its best to have low-sugar cereals high in protein and fibre at least 5 days a week.  Try measuring cereal too.  I do 1/2 cup cereal, 1/2 skim milk and then my FI and I share a banana with it.  I still have 1/2 cup of juice but if you are limiting juices, you can always have water.

Try greek yogurt (if you can stomach the gritty nature of it...I can't, I still have regular low fat yogurt), with all bran buds, flax seed, fruit
