3 Months..need food advice

I am at my 3 month mark and I have been working out like crazy but not seeing the changes I should be.
Has anyone had good luck with any eating plans that will make a big difference?
Weight watchers new point system is not the best option for me.
I'm also starting P90x this week.

Thanks!

  • Counting calories on MyFitnessPal or SparkPeople can be really, really helpful and easier to maintain than a full meal-plan diet.

  • I think if you're about to start varying your exercise that will help you out a lot.

  • What are you currently eating?  I use MFP to keep track of my food, but I found that in order for my body to change I needed to take a bit of a rest from the hardcore working out and do a week of yoga or something a little more less intense.  I dropped pounds and toned up.
  • Whenever I hit a plateau it's totally because of the diet aspect.
Join up with MFP, Livestrong, Sparkpeople, etc and start tracking your food intake. It could be because you are eating too much or maybe not ENOUGH ( <--- I know, right. Crazy.)
You may be eating too many empty calories (bread fiend anyone? Definitely my weakness :o) ) and not enough of things that will help you build and keep muscle while burning through that fat.

I don't believe in eating "plans" like that of WW or Nutrisystem, etc... but Healthful eating is important.. It takes a long long time to get there, but then you have healthy eating habits for life.
  • You should be eating every 3 hours.Especially if you are working out like crazy  you need to eat in order for your body to continue to burn fat and not muscle. Also, if you are trying to build muscle or tone up you need to be eating a lot of protein.
  • Kuddos to the protien comment. There is a diet that supports that aspect and allows you too eat as much as you want of certian high protien foods. The really difficult part is reducing the salt and sugar intake :(. Although, substitutes are allowed (splenda, equal, lemon, and lime juice). There is some information online and a book available in bookstores. Check it out if your interested. It's called the Dukan Diet.
