Finally going dress shopping...what do I need?

I am finally going dress shopping next weekend. i didn't want to go too early because I was afraid I would end up seeing something else after I bought a dress and would want to change.
So I've put it off and now I get to go and I'm so excited! i even got new underwear since strangers will be looking at me in it... Wink

Did you bring shoes with you when you went (not necessarily your wedding shoes just a pair of heels to get an idea)? Anything else I should bring that I'm not thinking of?

I didn't bring shoes, but the bridal shop had a pair that I tried on with "the one." I'm really short, so I'm glad they did. That pedestal is really deceiving! The heels showed how much of the dress would actually be getting hemmed away.

Strapless bra and panties that you're comfortable being seen in. LOL You will be in a dressing room with a stranger.

A camera, if they allow you to take pictures. If not a phone that can easily take sneaky ones (bad me, encouraging breaking rules).

    Happy shopping! :)

  • I didn't take anything. They gave me everything that I needed

  • The bridal salon that I went to had everything, however I did wear high heels as I plan to wear 4inches or higher on my wedding day so I wanted to see how that looked.

I would recomend a notepad and paper so you can take notes to go along with your pictures. I tried on 25 dresses and I was SO glad i had the notes after the fact!

    Good luck and have fun!

  • I was given everything I needed.  Water is helpful, those dresses are heavy and it's a lot of work getting in and out of them. Notes would be helpful. I tried on less then 10, and I was confused by the end.

I have a weird shoe size so I wore my own.  I wore a strapless bra too because most dresses were strapless.  I'd recommend water too.  It got really hot!

    Good luck!
  • I brought some heels and wore a strapless bra. Water is a great idea as you'll get overheated (so is extra deodorant!)

Have fun! I just bought my dress yesterday and the whole dress process was amazing!

  • The place i went to provided everything. I did wear my own heels just to get a feel for how the dress flowed with them. I did take a notebook, but my consultant had printed off a list of my favorite dresses I tried on and said she would also keep ahold of it for reference at my next appt.

  • Thank you all for your help! I will definitely need to grab a note pad as I didn't remember that. And some water too. Great tips! I'll let you know how is goes!
