Need ideas for baked goods favors

I want to give homemade, mini apple crisp and pumpkin pie favors.  I am making them myself and don't want to use the tin pie pans.  I want the container to be the part of the favor that they keep.  I have, in my head, mini glass pie pans but can't find them.  I'm thinking 3 inches.  Also, they don't have to be baked in these, I can scoop the dessert into them.  Any ideas???  Thanks!!

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about making the container something that people can keep.  I'd have little use for a 3 inch pie plate.  Save yourself some $$ and find a less expensive way to box the desserts.

One other thought:  I love, love, love apple crisp the first day it's made.  After that the "crisp" part gets soggy.  When were you going to make the apple crisp?  And I love pumpkin pie, so I'd enjoy both desserts at the reception if they were fresh.  But if not.....hmmmmm.

Just some things to think about.

I agree I wouldnt have much use for one mini pie dish. and as long as what came in it was delish I wouldnt care what the packaging was.... however I dd see at Crate & Barrel 3.25 inch pie dishes.

You may also want to use small ramikins, they are eaasy to find almost anywhere

I love this idea and agree with the PP that the favor can be the pie itself - not the pie plate.  Before you start on this, I can give you a word of advice.  Make sure you plan the logisitics of this kind of favor.  When will you make the pies?  If you are going to bake ahead of time, do you have the freezer space?    I was mid-way into baking mini rum cakes and chocolate cakes and completely ran out of freezer space.  I thought I'd be able to squeeze them all in, and I could, but I'd have to empty everything out and not put ANYTHING else in the freezer.

I agree with PPs about being able to keep the container.  I would have no use for a mini pie plate that small, and it would definitely end up in the garbage.  I think you have a great idea with the baked goods though.  I just definitely recommend doing the throw away plates to save yourself money.  Think for yourself, what would you do with a mini pie plate after?

How were you thinking of giving out the different types?  I've seen several posters mention having 2 different types of favors, but I never really knew how that would work deciding who gets what.  Our favors were at our place settings, but they were all the same (photo strip frames).  One poster had the idea of putting a table of favors by the day, sorted by flavor, and then people could choose what they want.  Thats probably how I would do it if I was doing different types.  Not that you asked, it just made me think about it.

I would use a mini pie plate in my kitchen as a decoration.  A ring holder, candle holder etc. but I do see your point.  I have been looking and I can do really cute completely personalized and printed recipe cards that I could attach to the pies.  Then I could use the tin pie plates, and a nice ribbon.  I'm just going to put them at each plate and alternate crisp, pie, crisp, pie.  If they don't like what they get then they can trade.  As far as keeping them fresh, the pies are going to be be frozen and I don't know about the crisp yet.  That's my mom's thing.  I do know that this recipe is a little different than typical crisp and tastes just as good, if not better the next day.  I guess we'll experiment with it.  I could always ask the caterer to do them I guess.  We're also having a candy bar with personalized bags for the guests to fill and take with them.

I think that doing 3 different favors:  apple crisp, pumpkin pie, and a candy buffet with personalized bags is really a lot.  Do you really have to do all 3?  Personally, I'd do one and put the rest of the $$ elsewhere.

Doing all the baking and packaging, plus setting up a candy bar is going to turn into a lot of work in the week before your wedding.  Seems unneccessary to me, and would certainly be less stressful not to be trying to create 3 favors in a very short time frame.
