Trying to think of a unique favor.

Every wedding I've been to (okay, so I've only been to a few) have had the lamest favors like a piece of chocolate or a little sac of who knows what to do with. To me it seems like a lot of the favor ideas out there are being used as "I need to give my guests something so here I'll give them this piece of whatever and call it good." That's totally not me. I'm trying to think of a unique idea that people will actually be excited to get and won't accidentally forget at the venue. My wedding is an elegant Las Vegas wedding. I know the words Vegas and elegant sound strange together in a sentence, but really I have found the perfect place to make this fantasy come true!

Let me know your amazing favor ideas!

Ohh! I am doing a photo booth! I guess I figured a favor had to be on the table. Thanks!

Or just skip the favors all together. But I agree with the photobooth.

My favors are tiny little picnic baskets filled with candy. I wanted a candy buffet but my mom wanted individual items and then I fell in love with these tenny tiny baskets. Plus she payed for them so it was no big deal to me either way.
These arent my only favors though. I am also doing morning after kits. Im doing hangover kits (gatorade, advil, crackers, earplugs, breathmint) for the drinkers. The non-drinkers will get breakfast in a box/bag (a homebaked good, orange juice box, teabag or instant coffee, and possibly a fruit cup). My guest list is small though (less than 100) so im not worried about the cost.

Personalized shot glasses! You can fill them with candy and then people will actually use them after your big day. We had a friend who had a theme similar to yours and it was a huuuuge hit. Some people even went up to her telling her how much they LOVED the idea because they collect shot glasses from wherever they go so that made her really happy (and relieved it was a success!) ...I think she got hers from My Wedding Favors?

I advise against anything personalized actually - those will be the first things I "forget" on a table at a wedding.  Actually, any glassware at all (wine, shot, beer glasses...) because it won't match what I have at home.

Photobooth is a great idea.  I'm still a big believer in edible favors though.  We had individual boxes of custom made truffles and they were a huge hit - not a box left at the end of the night (which actually bummed me out, I wanted some!).

I love the casino chip idea if it's in your budget.  If not, if you google you can find candy dice, candy playing cards or candy casino chips.  Those would make a cute favor package in a cello bag with some paper shred.  Nothing personalized, nobody needs one martini glass with your name and wedding date on it.

We had a photobooth at our wedding and it was a huge hit with our guests.  We purchased plastic magnetic frames as well.  It's really great to go to our friends' houses and still see the pics on their fridges.

Our wedding was in Las Vegas as well, at a golf course overlooking the strip.  I highly recommend Shutterbooth, they were fantastic to work with!

We are having a photobooth and the pictures are the guests favors. We are making up signs to put near the guestbook table directing people to the photobooth, what hours it will be there, that the pictures are unlimited and they are to take them home and enjoy them. It also says "YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED: the bride and groom will be receiving copies of all pictures taken, so pose wisely" Hahaha because we receive all pictures on a CD after the night is over.

As an additional thought, if you decide to use a photobooth, here is an idea my daughter considered.

She planned to use the frames (the "T" stand type) to perform "double duty".  As guests arrived, they would notice the frame initially because it was to be used as the escort card holder.  On the back side of the table number card, we were going to print something along the lines of "Give Us Your Best Shot" at the photobooth.  We had a second, larger sign that said, "Keep one set of photos for yourself and add the other to our guest book along with a personal message".

We are also doing a photobooth, but I wanted something more.  So we are taking the money we have for favors, and donating it to Susan G. Komen.  We have little scrolls for each guest that explain that the best gift is one that helps others and that we have donated money.

I am having a photobooth as well. We have a large wedding, so this a great cost effective way to keep our costs down. I still wanted something for our guests to put their picture in. I found a website that makes clear plastic book mark sleeves for only $0.29 each.  http://www.sneakpeekphotobooth.com Hopefully this helps you out!

We're being kind of traditional. He's old fashioned and wanted to do the standard Italian confetti (the little white baggie full of jordan almonds). I can't stand those things, so we're filling them with vanilla salt water taffy from the Jersey shore near his hometown. We're also giving out semi-personalized wine charms (more the theme of the wedding than our names and date). If we can scrounge up the money, we'll also make a donation to Wounded Warrior Project in our guests' names. We would have done that first, but we just didn't think about it.

I love the last wedding i attended had a photobooth, and she had photosleeves at each table with ribbon that matched her colors to put your picture in! IF you look around on the internet you can order the sleeves for under $. 25 each!

We are doing a photo booth and I have had a ton of great feedback on them!! So many guests love it because 1. It's fun!! 2. It's a picture of THEM! I mean sure, all your guests are there for you and love you, but no one really wants to keep something that has someone else's face/name/wedding date all over it. If it's not edible chances are- it will find it's way to the trash sooner or later. The only wedding favor i have bother to keep was a wine stopper. Which i love! Also, it is a heart not the anything personalized to the couple. I would definitely go with a photo booth- if you're not in to that then find something people actually use.

I love the photobooth idea! We're doing that one too. Just doing the photos is a good favor. I think any guest would be pretty happy with that. We're doing an Alice in Wonderland Wedding so our favors are personalized playing cards with our names & wedding date embossed on the back plus a quote from the book.
I like the other vegas favor ideas they gave. Also one I saw that was really cool on the knot was german beer mugs.

Some friends of mine did wine stoppers, mini-wine bottles with their names/wedding date on the label, measuring spoons shaped like hearts, cookie cutters, donations to their favorite or meaningful charity.

We did large shot glasses (4 oz. "side table water glasses") engraved with our names/date and filled with M&Ms in our wedding colors.  They were a pretty big hit!   People ate the M&Ms at the wedding and then took the glass home.

We did customized dice from Chessex - a ton of color options, really nice work, resonable prices, and everyone has a game or two at home that uses six sided dice.  Fits nicely with a Vegas theme too.

Check out these customizable printed cookies. I think they are classy and I can say from experience they taste great! I had these as my engagement announcement and this company did a great job with my customization! They also allow you to have the cookie flavored (mine was lemon), just ask them. They were also made fresh so they tasted like a homemade cookie.
My family and friends still tell me how cool these were and how great they tasted!

Just an idea, you should check it out!

I saw a cheeseshaker as a wedding favor and thought that was pretty unique.. esp if you're a cheese lover!  But I have heard that photobooths are the way to go lately!

Hi, I make really darling custom wine charms that are tiny little books. Each book is customized with copy on page 1 - for example, you and the groom's name, the venue in Las Vegas and date, and I can also include a tiny photo on the last page. I cover the books in beautiful handmade decorative paper - and I could include casino theme charms, which would dangle from the wine charm. They are super pretty and very elegant - and completely unique! If you want to check them out, you can go to favors, Boston market on the Knot. Or visit my website at www.bookcharmsmaine.com I can also create a set of four to show you exactly how they could come together for your wedding - at no cost or obligation to you. See what you think - they really are completely unique and perfect for a more elegant wedding as you have described. You can also email me at sdowns@roadrunner.com

    Thanks,

PP, no advertising on here, thanks.

OP, I totally agree with you when you say that favors are too generic. I've been to two weddings in the past month where the favors were hershey kisses in a box. Not terrible, but not very inventive. I personally think it would be better to do no favor at all than do something boring. As our favors, we are doing rosemary infused vinegar. This works for us because we are both Italian I LOVE to cook. Plus the herbs tie in because our wedding theme is garden-esque. Try to think of something that goes with the theme you're working with and represents you. Casino chips would be cool if your wedding is in a casino- but could also be kind of costly depending. One of my favorite favors I ever recieved as a guest was a wine stopper in the shape of the LOVE sculpture because the wedding was in New York. I use that thing all the time. I would def stay away from personalized things though because I hate them.

I was so worried about having lame favors...but eventually stumbled across an idea:

My name is kaitlyn and my husband's is henry....im a graphic designer so changed Kit kat bars to say kit kait bars and we had o'henry bars. You can see it in the image below...we attached a poem so people would realize it. I thought it was the cutest thing ever!

We're thinking of doing personalized playing cards. I figured people wouldn't care if they were personalized since they're just playing cards (I agree about not wanting glassware that's personalized). We both love to play card games together so we figured it would be a nice keepsake! Plus it would go great with the theme as well. You could have them say something like "Perfectly Suited"...just an idea :)
