I was in love with this place, where my parents were married. It had been on the market for 5 years, and the sellers would let brides go and take bridal portraits there, oh but nevermind. The month after we get engaged a man buys it for his 16 year old daughter. And my dreams of getting a copycat picture identical to my mom's was crushed.

I might be a biitch for saying this, but when I saw this story on the news, I was pretty much furious. They interviewed the girl and asked her what was in the future of the mansion and her response was something like, "OMG parties.........like a lot of parties." That place deserves soooo much better.

Hmmm....maybe you could contact the dad and try telling him your story? It's awfully sweet and he would have to be heartless to not consider allowing you a short amount of time to shoot pics. Since he's a doctor it can't be that hard to track him down.

I still think I'm going to try and get my bridal pics done there... it will just be a lot harder than before. But seriously, how freaking cool would it be to have side-by-side pics at our reception?

So do y'all think I should just try to write a letter? It really feels like a low point in life to write a letter to a millionaire 16 year old begging to use her garden and backyard for my pictures. Blah, like a peasant I am.

I would write to the dad.  While he bought it for his daughter, I'm pretty sure she can't really "own" it until she's 18.

ETA: Also, from the way that article is written, he bought it for the two of them.

Dear Self, why did you just commit to participate in a triathlon? You realize training will be right in the middle of a crazy work travel schedule? Granted, it's only a sprint, but it's been 3 years since you've done one. Love, Wondering what you were smoking today

I got a 77 on my test.  While not ideal, 15 people out of 40 failed out of the class last semester, and I will take my 77 and only improve.  Thank you for the well-wishes today!

Yay for passing grades!

And YES! You have 3 full months to transform your body, granted it'll be a ton of work. They say 10 pounds is a dress size, so depending on where you fall...it's doable. I've lost 12 pounds since the first of the year, and am impressed I've still stuck with it. And I notice the change in how my clothes fit even more than what the scale shows.

You'll be hooked! The first time I did one... I ended up doing 4 the next year! FI did a half Ironman a few years back and it was insane (I'm not that cray though).

UPDATE ON BELLE NORA:
I went shopping with my mom tonight and I was like, oh mom, you should get that pic for me and scan it so I can send a letter. While I'm telling the story she has a weird look on her face and when I'm done she lays this bomb on me:
'Actually, I went to high school [in Garland] with the guy who bought it, and I've had one of my other friends from high school in contact with him, and we have been trying to work out something for you as a surprise. But yes, we will put together a letter and hand deliver it to him to try and seal the deal.'

MOMS KNOW EVERYTHING.

So it's not set in stone but shout out to  South Garland High School alums.
