Not sure what your theme is, but it can be based on that:
cookies made in the color of the shower colors, or cookies in the shape of something significant to the couple....a couple of chocolates in a nice box or even bagged prettily....I went to a shower where the theme was "kitchen" and the favor was a wooden spoon, with candy placed in the bowl of the spoon, and then wrapped in tulle and tied with a ribbon. It was very inexpensive as the spoons were purchased at the Dollar Store and it did not require lots of candy because the bowl of the spoon can only hold so much.
Anything edible will work equally well for both men and women!
ETA: Perhaps it's a locale thing, but I have never gone to a shower where there WASN'T a small token favor.
Not necessary (i've never been to a shower with favors) but maybe do liike a cookie with frosting in their colors, or just little bags of chocolates. Keep it simple would be my advice
Must be a regional thing because I have never been to a shower without a favor. Usually something small like candy or a candle. With it being men & women I would say something edible.
Since it is for men and women I would do a small sweet or sweets and concentrate on making the packaging look cute so it separates it as a favor and not just another snack at the party. (if that makes sense) i.e. design a special candy bar wrapper with their names on it or designing a label that you could stick on to a small package of candy
