Favors

Pumpkin wedding favors??

We are having our reception on Oct 7th. I want to be unique and not give out a wedding favor with our names and wedding date plastered all over it. For example: every wedding ive been to gives out coozies with the couples last initial and wedding date. Not to be mean but why do i want to stare at your names while im drinking? ANYWAYS, i want to give out something practical that doesn't scream "we got this from a wedding" so I was thinking about giving out small pumpkins. And just to add a cute touch, i was going to wrap the stem in a ribbon with our names and wedding date so they can remove it if they want. What do yall think??

Honestly, a small pumpkin would be just as useless to me as something with the couples name on it.

Can you do candy apples or something else edible?

I agree with SD. If you do pumpkins, a lot of people would probably just leave them. They'd work great for place settings, but I don't think that people would know what to do with them as favors. If you found some pumpkin-looking candy or something, people might appreciate it more.

I like the idea of pumpkin bread but although we are having a fall wedding, that isn't really our overall theme. We are going more for rustic, unique, and personal.

I was thinking about doing the small pumpkins because our reception is before halloween. I buy several small pumpkins every year to decorate our house with and I figured the guests would do the same.

I agree with how dumb it is people plaster their names on stuff and who wants to stare at it, but honestly I'd rather have the coozie. They're to keep your drink cold anyways not to stare at.

I vote for something edible that is pumpkin-flavored. I would probably just throw the pumpkin away or leave it behind.

I second the vote for candied or caramel apples.

I am doing every other setting with Bronze Leaf Bookmarks the other half with Chocolates.  I am using a cupcake tree to put candy apples in.  I would use the pumpkins as place cards if you definitely want to use the pumpkins.

I LOVE the pumpkin idea. I would definnitely take any pumpkins left behind too. Anyone who would just leave the pumpkins behind must not like Halloween too much which is their loss (or they may have flown into town, to be fair).

I would echo those who are suggesting an edible pumpkin-flavored treat.  Pumpkin bread, cookies, etc.  I would probably leave a mini pumpkin behind, just because I wouldn't really know what to do with it.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing! I wanted to have pumpkins decorating the venue (we are having the ceremoney and reception at the same place) so I was thinking of getting pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes to decorate. I was going to put a couple of pumpkins on a table with a sign that says "Pumpkin Patch" and "Please take one" that way, the pumpkins are used for decorations and as favors. If people don't want them... oh well, at least I didn't waste a ton of money on favors. Favors aren't as popular as they used to be. We can't bring in edible things to reception, everything has to be from the chef at the site (except for the cake). So I don't see a problem with it. If you have different sizes, it allows some people to take them home to carve them. This was my inspiration: http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/blogs/wedding_style_file/archive/2009/10/29/wedding-reception-ideas-pumpkin-decor.aspx

Do what you want :) I think pumpkins are a great idea!

My wedding is October 8 and we are doing mini pumpkin pies and putting them in an organza "bag" and tying it off with a wedding corrdinating color; although our wedding is "fall/rustic/outdoor themed"

I think the pumpkins are cute too though, but everyone loves to eat!
