Tears of Joy Packets!

Hey, anyone know where to get these little tissue packets in bulk for a good price??

It's like our finishing touches :)

Re: Tears of Joy Packets!

  • I would just skip them and use the money somewhere else.  Anyone who is prone to tear up will come prepared and those who don't are just going to leave them behind.  I think it also comes off as conceited that you think your wedding will be so moving it will move everyone to tears.

  • I totally agree with GLB.  I hate that they are called "Tears of Joy" packets.  Call them tissues, because that's what they are.

Are you getting married in a church? Because many churches provide boxes at the end of the pews to be passed down.  If not, I would assume someone can pull it together.  I've never full-on cried at a wedding.  The worst has been teary, and I don't think I've ever seen someone crying in a way that they couldn't wipe off that one tear and move on.
  • So we had tissues available (wasn't a church wedding) but we didn't order "tears of joy" or whatever.  We put about a dozen plain, travel-sized packages in a basket near the back of our ceremony site, on the same table as our programs and memorial flowers.  SInce we got married during cold and flu season, we actually had a bunch go but I think we also could have skipped them and not really had any problems.

  • I just went to Dollar Tree and bought some travel sized tissue (the just happened to have some in our colours so we lucked out there) and we are putting some out. for $2.50 I got 18 packs (10 tissues in each pack) so thats more than enough for our guests (about 80 guests and that includeds children)  and if they are left behind Im not out a lot of money.

  • <div>I agree with the dollar store idea. You could also do some sort of belly bands around a smaller quantity by separating them into 3 or 4 and put them in a basket by the ceremony entrance. Of course this will be extra work (save some $ though) and of course there may be some people who will see open tissues and be skeezed out by the germ factor. As long as Howie Mandell isn't attending your wedding you'll probably be ok. Dollar store sounds like it's going to be your best bet though! Oh and PM me or post pics after you finish this project because I would LOVE to see the finished project! </div><div>
</div><div>Oh, and if you actually listen to the others who tell you your idea is egotistical then perhaps you could make the belly bands could read "just in case!" or "in case of emergency" or  even what you've already expressed YOU want which is "Tears of Joy" - It never ceases to amaze me that people would actually take the time out of their day to tell someone that they think their idea is lame or a waste - I just don't understand it!!! Why comment at all!? It's not as if you are asking "Hey everyone, what do you think of this - cute or cheesy?" - then I could see how many of these responses could be warranted. Just my two cents which I'm sure will get me crucified...LOL! </div><div>
</div><div> So if tears of joy is what you want then have fun with it. It's your day so don't listen to the Debbie-downers who tell you your idea sucks! It's not about what everyone else thinks and if someone is asking advice it's obviously because it's something you want to do. </div><div>

If something I was going to do would be a huge waste of money for me, yeah, I would want someone else to give me a heads up because I kind of like saving money. People who have already gotten married and possibly done this with a negative result would be the best people to tell her this. Also, many times we get a great idea and go gung ho, unable to see possible drawbacks to that idea. No one was rude, but gave constructive criticism. If you aren't up for that, this website may not be the best place for you, honestly.

  • I did tissue packets, but I didn't call them "tears of joy".     I mostly did them because I thought it was a cute idea, that hasn't been done much in my circle of friends, and it hardly cost me anything.

I got glassine envelopes from ebay for $3.25.  Tissue from the dollar store.  Enough packets for all of them for $2.00.  Ribbon on Michaels when it was 50% off and I had a 25% off your whole purchase coupon.  So, I might have spent $8-$10 on ribbon and labels on vistaprint.  I actually got them, because I had room left on a previously purchased groupon, and nothing left to buy.  So, I may have spent $2.00 of that groupon towards those labels.

So, for less than $20.00, it's just a cute little "extra" that, so far, people have thought was very cute.

Instead of saing "for your tears of joy" on the label, I put a little poem I found online that says "Since weddings bring a tear or two, keep this packet near to you".  And our names and dates.
