Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Me :)

Okay, so I was reading the read this first post and it said to talk about myself.
I am marrying my absolute best friend on April 30 and I cannot wait! We thought we were having a relatively small wedding, but it has turned out to be bigger than we thought. We are now less than 5 months out and I am feeling a little overwhelmed with what I should be doing as far as planning goes now. Any advice?!?

Congrats and welcome! Where is your venue, and where are you in your planning as of right now? How large is your guest list?

A lot of girl on here recommend looking at that checklist provided by TK, as that helped them pace themselves a lot.  Definitely take it one day at a time and try not to stress too much :)

Well our venue is outside the Fort Worth area, it's on his grandpa's land (he's done like 7 or 8 weddings) and we have around 285 people or so on the guest list. I've got my dress have not had alterations done yet since I haven't found the shoes I want. His grandma knows this awesome woman who creates cakes and is taking care of that. in the process of booking the girl to do my hair and tattoo coverup. have my colors. We're having a DYI wedding for the most part.

also, I tried searching for any posts on shoes, however nothing recent had popped up. so any advice where to find cute, white sandals? no heels please :)

I found my shoes at DSW (they are funky heels though), but I'd also try department stores for something simple. I think Macys.com has a "bridal" category even.

Hello and welcome!  What all do you have booked/done so far? Are you using a DJ or a band?  Do you have your invitations ordered?

    Happy posting!

Well, so far we have the woman who is doing our cakes booked, my mom is doing all of the floral. I'm in the process of booking my hair stylist. And we're somewhat iffy on the photographer. We have a friend that we go to college with who did our engagement pictures and she has done an incredible job with those. But she's only shot one other wedding. My fi and I are on our own as far as photography and I know that it can be pricey. And we have not really talked about having a dj or band.

Welcome to the boards!!  What might help you is to look at the vendor sticky at the top and start your own list.  That way, you'll know what you have done and what you still need to do.

Have you looked on zappos.com for shoes? They have a huge selection and I've heard great things about their customer service and returns policy. I think they pay for return shipping.
Also, I love my photographers! They are Chelsea & Mack McGowan at mcgowanimages.com . They are amazing and very passionate about what they do. They're genuine and try to connect with their couples.
Anyways, welcome to the boards & let us know if you have any more questions!

Hello and welcome!!! April is right around the corner with your wedding!! (time flys super fast!) As far as shoes, where have you looked? What kind are you wanting? Flats, sandals, heels, keds, etc?
  • edited December 2011
I've just kind of looked around. I've googled for different sites and haven't found much. I would like white, flat, sandals.
  • edited December 2011
Congratulations and welcome! As far as the sandals go, you may want to wait just a little bit longer if possible (I know you need to get your dress altered), since we're just starting to hit winter.

That's what I was afraid of. I changed my mind on color, theme, and all of that so that is why I haven't even thought about the shoes until now. I was planning on wearing pink cons. haha big switch

I found my flats at Dillards.  They were pearl white.  Also try onlineshoes.com (I think).  I got my silver shoes for the RD there.

Hi there!  I love the idea of pink Cons!  I too needed a low heel and had a hard time finding anything--I finally found mine at Kate Spade but they were expensive.  If you need someone for your alterations, many of us have used Becky Fowler in Irving as she is a wonderful lady and very reasonably priced.

Hello and Welcome! I think most of the girls have given the recommendations I would have already. I'm looking for Flats too but it's difficult to find something cute and fun. I know some girls have bought flats and then bought charms and added them to make them something which fits their personality more. Becky would be a great person to pick for alterations. She's doing;/done alterations for a lot iof girls on here.

I went back and forth on colors, but once you start ordering things you just have to say these are the colors and go with it.

What kind of budget are you looking for on Photography? It can help with recommendations. I know mine is reasonable and works with people as well, but there are a lot of great ones the girls on this board have used.

If you have any questions just ask... This board is a great resource.

Welcome!  I wore flats for my wedding... they were Rocket Dogs, in ivory satin... and now I wear them to work :)  I got them from DSW, but right now they don't have much in the way of sandals.

Wow thanks everyone for all of the advice!!!
    :)
Now I know people who actually LOVE wedding talk and get excited just as I do!!!

Is Nine West an online store then?

And I will definitely look into the Grapevine Mills Mall.

Also, my fi and I are on our own for the photography, and we're poor college students, so the cheaper the better!!!

And for the alterations, about how much does Becky normally run?

    Thanks so much!!

Becky is usually around $100-$125 depending on what you need.  She'll also press the dress for you before the wedding.  She is wonderful!
