Flowers

Hm, Flower Dilemna.

My fiance and I want a red/white/blue wedding [ http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-theme-boards_offbeat-weddings_pull-off-patriotic-wedding-being-tacky ] and I'm not sure how to do the bouquets.

Especially since there's no such thing as a blue flower, really.

I only want roses, no other flowers in the wedding.

But I hate mixed color rose bouquets, I find them tacky. [I don't overall think they're tacky for other people. I think they can be done quite beautifully. Just to me, for my fiance and I's wedding, I just hate the look.]

But I don't know how red and white alternating bouquets would look or if I should do a white bouquet with perhaps a red ribbon or a red bouquet with a white ribbon?

Any ideas?

There are blue flowers available...hydrangeas, delphinium (comes in dark and light blue...the dark blue is very dark, almost navy), and cornflower.

I think if you did, let's just say, a white bouquet with roses and your bridesmaids did red rose bouquets, this would look very nice.  To add in the blue you could wrap the bouquets in blue ribbon.  You could also consider non-floral accents to place in the bouquets to bring in the other colors of your wedding as well.  Talk with your florist and they should be able to give you some ideas.

you could add in blue beads,or blue wire to the bouquets.  You could also tie in the blue either in the ribbon at the base or in a broach or some peice of old blue jewery attached to the ribbon.  You could also do red roses for yourself with a white wrap. and have your bridesmaides carry one or two blue hydrangas wrapped in white ribbon

I attended a wedding where the bride felt similarly, her bouquet was red roses, the bridesmaids in aqua dresses where white roses.   The centerpieces were floating candles surrounded by red and white rose petals.
