Calla Lilies VS Tulips

I'm not quite to picking my flowers just yet, still shopping around BUT since I've picked my colors I just assumed orange calla's. I was looking around and saw orange tulips and think they are beautiful. I know calla's can be pricey but tulips can be, too. Experience, opinions, help?

    go with the callas.
tulips are gorgeous - but, they're really fragile, and don't last too long.  especially in heat.  since you're in houston, i think they'd look like crap by the time you walk down the aisle.
also, i think they'll probably be more expensive (depending on season.)

I used tulips and while I agree that they are a fragile, there's no reason for them to wilt before you walk down the aisle.  I was married in FL outside Memorial weekend.  The temp was about 90* and humidity was between 95 and 100% (it was raining nonstop for days until about 20 minutes before the ceremony) and my flowers lasted for days.  We kept all of our bouquets in water until just before we walked out for the ceremony and they didn't go back into water until the reception was over.  My flowers were still wilt free for two or three days after the wedding.

I vote for calla lilies. They are easier to use and available. Your wedding is in November and tulips are a spring flower.

Both are gorgeous and do come in orange, but I think you'll have better all-around luck with the callas.  They are available year round in many colors, and are more "reliable" for holding up in bouqets or bouts/corsages.  I think most florists would prefer to work with them.

Tulips are kind of hit or miss for bouquets and ability to stay fresh, they tend to droop and flop quickly, it might be hard to find them at certain times of the year, and in the color you want.

If you prefer one over the other, you might ask your florist you end up using what they suggest.  You can always specify a first choice and second choice, and just let them handle it based on what is available at the time of your wedding.
