Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

How to incorporate Country Music into reception?

I am a Country music fanatic... It's all I ever listen to...

Pretty much our entire ceremony is country music.

I am just not sure how to incorporate this into the reception... we want a wide variety of music... My fiance and I hardly ever listen to "pop" music- If you were to ask me what they plan on MTV these days I certainly couldn't tell you. We really love 80's/early 90s music, he is obsessed with Rock/Linkin Park music... and I love country... its such an awkward mixture of music. We really want everyone to have fun and dance and enjoy themselves.... but it won't feel like me without any line-dancing and country!

mix in some of the more popular line dances if that's what you love, wait untill the nights really kicking and throw them in. eclectic is good at the a wedding, our reception is mostly eighties and rock but since it's a halloween wedding i'm throwing in deval went down to georgia by charlie daniels

I don't really get how country music would be hard to fit into a reception.  There are tons and tons of slow songs that are country, and throwing in a few line dancing songs would be just fine.

If you're having a DJ, just let that person know what you like, and they should be able to read your crowd and play songs that they'll want to hear/dance to.

Every wedding I've been to has had tons of pop/80's/90's/country music.  It all mixes together fine!
Agreed with PP..if you've got a DJ just let them know you wanna mix it up a bit.

We had a lot of country music played at our reception as well bc I love country. H, not so much, but he deals with it. He does like some of it, though.

I would talk to your DJ. This is what we did: we gave our DJ a list of must be played songs and what album they came from. Then, we did another list (H typed it up on the computer) that were for "filler" songs and what albums they came from. Of course, both lists were a mix of both of our requests, and it worked really well.
