Brides family is 100% British and Groom's family is 100% American

Hi Brides and Brides-to-Be!

I am in need of some help from you all with picking a song to walk down the aisle to that will incorporate my British background as well as deliver to my FH's American family. I was thinking of "Trumpet Voluntary" which is the song that Princess Diana walked down the aisle to (brings a little British taste to the ceremony i think) but i am scared that my FH's family will all give the "what kind of music is this look" ..... THOUGHTS?

  • You can walk down the aisle to whatever you want. I doubt your FIs family are going to give any look to whatever you choose.

  • I wouldn't worry.  Americans have heard of Trumpet Voluntary, it is used as a processional for plenty of weddings here.  Plus millions of people watched Charles & Diana's wedding.  It's a beautiful, stately tune, so if you love it, go for it.

FWIW, I also went British for my processional, using Holst's "Thaxted" (aka the middle section of "Jupiter" from The Planets) - IMO the most beautiful melody every written.  Also we recessed to Handel, German by birth but British by career and naturalization!
