Help with the photog contract?

FI and I just received the contract from our photographer for our July wedding. We're eloping so we don't really have anyone to run it by but from google I found some things that it needs to include.. but I'm still a little lost.

The photographer's business is very highly reviewed with lots of weddings in the portfolio.

There also isn't any specific photographer on the contract, just the business. The emails said that the owner will be doing it, but should I ask for there to be something in the contract about him specifically and if he can't make it if he will send someone else?

There isn't anything about equipment or anything on there either. I think TK says you should have that?

Okay, last one I think: half the payment is due upon signing and then the remainder is due 8 weeks before the wedding. Is that normal?

He's giving me a really good deal so I don't want to be too picky but it's still a lot of money so I don't want to leave out anything important.

EDIT: I reread the contract and found where the cancellations policy is, so I took that out of my post.

I am a photographer and if it is not in the contract and email will not be strong enough in a court of law if it is NOT in the contract. you must get it in the contract if you want it as a guarantee, otherwise, you will be left in the cold. regardless of the photographers reputation.

Regarding payments, different photographers have different policies. I've talked with one who wants the balance 30 days before the wedding, another who wants it by the day of the wedding, and another who wants it upon delivery of the pictures.
