Friend of future mother in law

So my future mother in law paid for the photographer and wanted us to hire a couple who owns a photography business.  We met liked their work and decided to hire them.  Well the place where we are taking our outdoor photos have changed and she's not to happy about it and wants to revise the contract and she pushed us taking pictures prior to the ceremony but we both decided we didn't want to spoil the moment and wanted his first look to be me walking down the aisle.  The time frame is the same they actually get to start an hour later and the new spot for the outdoor photos is closer.  Has anyone else had any issues with photographers over issues like this.  BTW nothing in the contract stated that we couldn't change locations.

  • No, most photographers are very flexible and easy to work with, or at least they SHOULD be. I called mine three days before our wedding asking if he could be at the salon earlier that day and it was NBD. And one of my red flags would be if they are trying to push you to either do or not do a first look. You should do what YOU are comfortable with; after all, you are paying them!

If they are already paid for and you can't get out of the contract, there may not be much you can do, but I would definitely put my foot down about no first look and tell them you really prefer the new location and don't see anything in the contract that says you can't change locations. Don't let them try to change the contract now.
