Couples Shower Theme

My fiance and I are having a wedding shower together. It will be at a clubhouse with a pool in May. I want to have a cute theme but something unique(not a hawaiian theme or anything like that). Also, there will be a mix of people there that do not know each other so I thought it might be good to have some sort of game. I know alot of people don't like games but I don't want anything too over the top. Maybe a game where the guests have to guess the couples favorite things, how they met, etc. or a game that doesn't involve too much participation (like the clothespin game or something like it).

So what I'm asking is: what is a good couples shower theme? and what are some good games that require minimal participation?

    You shouldn't host/plan your own parties. But in answer to your question, you don;t need a theme, nor do you need to plan games. It can be just like any other party.

    Themes for couple showers can get a bit tricky unless you met under a mutual circumstance....biking, bowling...that type of thing.  If you want to stick to a general water based theme, it could be something as simple as "Taking the plunge"...or even something along the lines of famous or even infamous couples....Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy to Bonnie and Clyde.  So much is dependent on your group of friends, sense of humor......

    Games are even trickier.  Rather than have the guests answer questions about the bride and groom, perhaps they could answer questions relating to how they all know you....which guest introduced the two of you....which guest is a co-worker....which guest is a childhood friend.

    Sorry if the suggestions are vague and perhaps not very helpful.  Maybe at the least they will offer you a "jumping off point" from which you can further brainstorm.  Good luck!

    No, I am not planning our wedding shower, my MOH is. BUT, I want to do some sort of theme so her and I are working together to think of something. I'm thinking we might do a "Around the clock" or "Rooms in the house" theme for the gifts. As far as a game, we might have random facts about me and fiance and the guests will have to choose which person the fact is about.

    My MOH and her husband (one of our GM - they introduced us) hosted a couples shower for us.  It was a pizza party / game night for about 24 people.  We played "Gundy and Mr. Gundy Jeopardy!" - 5 categories, 5 questions each - "Gundy", "Mr. Gundy", "The Couple", "The Wedding", and "Potpourri" - since everyone was a friend of at least one of us and a lot of the answers were on our wedding website, everyone knew at least some of the questions.
