addressing the card for a shower

My understanding of this is that for a wedding shower you address the card only to the bride, but for wedding gifts the day of, you address to the bride and groom. Thoughts? Ideas? What's the proper protocol for this?

    I don't think it matters.

I don't think it matters what you write on the bridal shower gifts--- just bride or both work. However, it would be weird if you give a gift/card at a wedding and only address it to ONE of the people who just got married that day.

<div>The exception to this would be if you are writing a check.  Putting Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the check just makes it a giant PITA to cash it.  Write the bride's maiden name or the groom's name.  You can write both names on the card.</div>

In my personal opinion, both names should go on it. Even though the shower is just the bride (unless it's a couples shower), both people will be benefitting from and using the gift you give.
