Pre-wedding Parties

When should we have the rehearsal?

Our wedding is on a Friday (in January), but we have a lot of people coming in from out of town, and we are having the ceremony late in the evening (5:30 or 6:00). We are having a small wedding and small bridal party, I think we'll probably have less than 20 people at the rehearsal. I was considering doing a rehearsal brunch or lunch, starting the rehearsal at 10 or 11 or so in the morning on the day of the wedding? I've never heard of anyone doing this, but it might make it easier for people to make it to the rehearsal (not having to stay an extra night at a hotel, etc.) What does everyone think? Has anyone done this/ heard of it being done?

That's actually not a bad idea, if you need a rehearsal at all. If your WP is really small (like just MOH and BM) you probably don't need a rehearsal. I would ask those people involved what they have time for and decide from there.

I think you're best bet is to know if people will be available on Thurs.  You really want to take your time on Friday morning for getting ready, etc. and not be rushed.

The day of would make me very nervous.  You need time to get ready at your own pace.  Plus, you're not supposed to see the groom until the actual wedding.  I also had a Friday wedding and most guests were out of town.  THursday rehearsal was not a problem.  Usually if you are traveling to a wedding you are there the day before, not the day of.  I would check with the wedding party to see when they are planning to come in town.
