Knife set

Does anyone have any good ideas of where to register for a nice knife set??? I am struggling with this!

I can't imagine it being hard to find a knife set. Do you know which one you want or are you looking for suggestions on that? We have a JA Henckels set that DH had before we moved in togther, and we registerd for another knife or two to go with the set at BBB.

I got a Martha Steward knife set in the block from Macys. It's actually really nice quality knives and looks great.

Crate & Barrel and also Sur La Table have very nice sets.

Also Crate & Barrel does wedding registry "parties" where they close off the store for a few hours in the morning for couples to register. They do knife demos & have their "registry experts" available to answer questions, etc. They list these on their website & you have to RSVP.

Wusthof and JA Henckels are suppossed to be GREAT. We registered at Macy's for a JA Henckels set. Read the reviews too... those help alot.

it all depends on ur budget. if you want to stay under 500- macys or bbb. But if you cook every day, williams-sonoma. I've registered for a 10 peice set that is almost 2,000. that allows me to send one knife in per yar to get sharpened for free. Make sure you try out and hold every set. They are all weighted differntly and have different lengths and widths.

also, williams-sonoma allowed me to register for the knife set, and also individual knifes that made up the set- so if no one can afford the whole set, they can buy just one peice. My macy consultant told me I couldn't do that.

I just got a set from Pampered Chef. They do registries there, and you get credit.

We have a set (FI is really into cooking, otherwise, I wouldn't go so expensive just for me--I'm a baker myself.), and I expect it to last a lifetime. Alton Brown highly recommends these, as well.
