FI and I were thinking about something similar ... but my cousin told me it's ghetto.  She's 20 years younger than I, so she's much closer to (in the know about) trends than I am @ 49. *sigh*

So, no guest book (I'd misplace it within two months!) and now, no photo with guest signatures on the mat.  Blah!

OMG!!  In one of those kismet moments that can only occur in DC, years from now we'll meet and, then -- finally -- I'll get to see the wedding bloopers video.  LOL!!

Lisa, I totally disagree! My cousin's daughter, who is in her early 20's just had one at her wedding last week! If you want one, get it!

I made a photobook on Costco's website, because I had a coupon for it. Used our engagement pics, plus some others, turned out really nice, leatherbound. You can choose whatever page layouts you want (I know other photo sites have this as well), and add sayings, prose, or poetry. I left several pages blank so people can write their comments/good wishes in it.

Another "fluffy" thing, the scrap book! I ordered one online, on sale, and my daughter, who is my MOH and 16, will put it together for me. Got all the cute little stickers, pages in our colors (black & white), oh yes, sadly, as this post gets longer, I realize how much fluff I actually have.

Retread - I believe DEEEEP inside most Brides, there is fluff?  :)  And I am enjoying every second of it!

Here's the difference with mature brides- (1) we can pay for it if we want it - so no tantrums about how impossible my parents are being because they will not spring for the harpist in the driveway as the limousine takes me to my hair & makeup trial and (2) we can thumb our noses at what's "cool" because really - how cool could we possibly be at this point anyway- and choose what we like. Cool  ~Donna

For my first wedding my ex now was so concerned abou t propriety and correctness that the only thing i got that i really wanted was the colors.  And his mom showed up to a peach and gray wedding in her black funeral dress.  It went downhill from there. Eighteen years later, this guy does not care as long as we can afford it and there is a nod to firefighting which he loves.  So, here comes the red and white dress I wanted, the red engagement and wedding band, his fire emblem wedding band, his brother is a printer an we get it as cost for his wedding gift so, if it is printed we will have it.  Real photographer but a relative so great cost.  Our reverend and our dj are one and the same.  Cake will be 3 or 4 tier fire themed cake colors are black and red and my three daughters and one son are all in it as well as a brother and an uncle.  Sharing the flowers with minor mods with a friend who is also on her sedond trip down the aisle this year.  So, fluff yes but at a manageable amount and with joy this time around.Wink

Since I'm just digging into the whole planning bit I am reserving the right to add Fluff as I see fit!

But for now my *must haves* are custom M&Ms.  My family has had a pound bag (or two) at every family get together for the past decade or more - so I am going to have M&Ms either way.  May as well make them be MINE!

We probably won't have a cake at the wedding and dinner afterwards since its a destination wedding, but at the party later we'll have cake - but probably just sheet cakes.  (unless I can get Cake Girls or Ace of Cakes to do one of Wrigley Field for me - that would be awesome!)

No planned favors - but we are going to be in Mexico and we like our tequila so maybe some shot glasses will be looked at...

yikes this is how it gets started doesn't it???!!!!

[QUOTE]Does this mean we are bridebirdies instead of bridezillas? I mean, we have all this fluffy down and all....

I'll go with bridebirdies!  I don't believe I've seen a bridezilla on this board and pretty sure never will!  This was definitely a fun thread!

Do my TWO pair of shoes count as fluff?  I couldn't decide on which pair, so I bought both.  I wasn't sure I would find purple shoes that I liked and found two the first time out.  I thought about it for a few days and still couldn't decide so went back and bought both.

Other than the actual ceremony itself, everything is kind of "fluff," and we went all out on it.

My first two weddings had plenty of "fluff," themselves, but nothing even comes close to this one.  From comic book programs to personalized crystal champagne flutes to a designer wedding cake, handmade personalized garters, rhinestones in the flowers, and personalized undergarments for the groom - it was over-the-top, fun, and memorable for everyone involved.

Our LIFE is full of "fluff," though, so it wouldn't have been us if the wedding had been lacking it.

I love this thread.  I am a 46 year old second time bride and proud to be in such great company.  My sweetie and I are doing a very small ceremony - sailing away to get married on a cruise with just our immediate family members.  My fluff?  I guess it would be real flowers.  Since we are on a cruise wedding, the flowers are very expensive and I know a lot of weddings use silk.  But I splurged on real ones!

I'm starting to honestly believe that I must be damaged at a molecular level.  I am immune to the trappings of fluff!  Color me bride-FAIL.  Lol

    I LOVE this thread!!

I've been fighting the urge to Fluff but I'm pretty sure I'm going to give in at least a tiny bit (isn't that how it all starts?)  My reception hall needs some "work" so there will have to be tulle to cover the white concrete block looking walls and I can't imagine not having some sort of favors for everyone.  Let's say a prayer that it stops there, I'd hate to have to explain why our budget includes "fluff" when I've asked him to hide the Playboys in the bathroom . . .

I, too, am a closet fluffer ... I have the cake topper to put on top of the cupcake tower that I am trying to decide how to paint and decorate ... I have more broaches than sense right now so I can make my bouquet and I am getting ready to do layaway on the Hourglass for the family unitly part of the ceremony ... It is my second wedding but it is his first so I am trying to turn him into a fluffer too ...

I have had to talk him out of using the minister from the Princess Bride, Yoda and Captin Kirk as the officiant ... my MOH threated his life at that suggestion but my children loved it ....

No personalized napkins, favors are the leftover cupcakes in mini takeout boxes with personalized stickers (is that fluff) and the list of wants and don't wants continues to grow ...
