Maybe chocolate covered grapes on the cake or white chocolate covered grapes would still do grape flavor and look pretty.

I didn't read all of the comments but why wouldn't you just have purple icing if you want your cake to be purple?

It doesn't have to be a vile flavor to have your accent color.  Plus, no one even sees the inside of the cake until it is on their plate.

This isn't the same as your "intro" when you started posting. (yes, i went and looked).  I'm suspicious.

But, if he just likes grape flavored things, you should just get him a special (small) candy bar of his own with grape flavored Jolly Ranchers/Jelly beans/Laffy Taffy and whatnot. But, I wouldn't do one big enough for everyone unless you plan on incorporating more flavors. Not everyone likes grape.

Ummm..and Febdallasbride, I can't believe you didn't like dimatapp. I LOOOVED taking dimatapp, along with the pink liquid that was prescription (not pepto...lol). Yum...Those were good. But I heard that they stopped making dimatapp taste so good so kids wouldn't want to drink it... <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-frown.gif" border="0" alt="Frown" title="Frown" />

I think it is rather odd that instead of asking what we thought about grape cake and not making a poll asking us if it was 'stupid' may have been the wrong way to get an opinion. I doubt that people would automatically think that it was 'stupid' until you asked if it was. Unconventional, yes; but nobody would say it was stupid. So it almost seemed like you didn't even take the idea seriously and that you were on board with calling the idea stupid before we had a chance to call it such. Just an observation.
You say that you and FI are an 'odd' couple, but all of the ideas are his, and it seems that you are questioning most of them. These are some of the reasons that a few of us are less than convinced that you're for real.

</div><div>Ok I understand where you're coming from. I guess its hard to show someone how you are when you don't know them. Well we've always wanted a wedding on Halloween with a kind of victorian-costume feel without being cheesy. We don't want the cookie-cutter traditional wedding if that gives you a better idea. My engagement ring itself isn't just a diamond on a setting. (The image of the ring on my page is it). I'm majoring in fashion design at UNT and I hope to work more with costume design in my career. Here is the perfect atmosphere of creepy-Halloween with amazing costumes that I want to recreate:  </div><div> </div><div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N6W4CJFWm4" rel='nofollow'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N6W4CJFWm4</a></div><div> Just not zombie-ish. </div><div>
</div><div>Something kind of gothic, but not tacky. I'm on board with the black wedding dress idea that I mentioned in my last post if we both wear black or he wears gray. </div><div>As far as the grape-cake goes, I found it funny and wondered if any of you ladies had ever even heard of such a thing. My FI isn't a dessert person: he hates icing, chocolate and baked fruit. That means no cakes, brownies or pies. That doesn't leave a whole lot left so as far as the dessert goes, i'm pretty clueless what to do as is. I really do appreciate everyones feedback though and it gives me things to think about that I haven't yet considered. I'm sorry if I've irritated you in any way. :)</div><div>

Check out banana's bio... she had a Halloween wedding but still made it traditional, in the sense that she had a real cake and wore a white dress.  You can do a Halloween theme without taking away from your actual wedding.

No worries. I'm not irritated, just trying to give you some insight as to why we were leery. Just because your FI isn't a dessert person doesn't mean that he has to eat the cake. As you delve further into your planning, you'll pull away more from how it is 'your day' (which it still is) to striking a happy balance so that your guests enjoy themselves. Maybe go for a traditional tasting cake for the guests to have with an aesthetically pleasing design for FI if you are wanting to have a cake. Your FI will also have to compromise with you in regard to the more traditional points of your wedding while figuring out a way to make it 'yours'.

    Kendall: I LOL'd XD

Seriously though, those links make me almost want to move my wedding down a week for a Halloween wedding. But FI might get it in his heads to make it completely zombie :p

Snow- You sound like you think you know what you want when really you're just looking at what you think would be totally awesome and 'the thing to do'. I say this because you seem exactly like how I was about five years ago and heavily into the Gothic Lolita/Steampunk Victorian style. While I still enjoy these things it's not something I would want to take over my wedding, just touches of it here and there to make it classy. You still have some time so yeah, check out the links these awesome ladies provided and get some ideas but don't decide now that you HAVE to do it. You've got about a year longer than I do and so far I've got a color theme, and some ideas but nothing solid. And like everyone has been suggesting, just because your FI doesn't like sweets doesn't mean you can't have a cake. Just fix up something for him that he can enjoy but won't cause you to have to completely eliminate all options.
