Haven't been posting much lately

Hey all, I feel bad for not posting much in the past couple weeks! I've been lurking though, just been so busy and tired that I just haven't been able to post much. BTW Lisa, I got your PM with your wedding photos, they were gorgeous and I'm so happy for you!

Things have been pretty good for me in my first month of married life. I'm still enjoying my job as a pharmacy tech and I'm so glad I went for it. I appreciate all the advice y'all gave me about that when I was needing to jump ship from ADT to save my sanity. It's turned out to be such a blessing. The pharmacy manager is a woman with a type-A personality, so while she's a good person, it takes awhile to get used to working with her, and she can be very difficult. But things have gone well, I've learned how to work to her particular style and she's overall extremely pleased with me, and makes sure to tell me so often. I'm working 30-35 hours a week consistently, which is significantly more than the 15-20 I was promised when I got hired 4 months ago.

DH's health has been deteriorating, mostly because of the heat, but honestly because he needs to get his pulmonary valve repaired. He's still set up to have that done in October, but due to the heat and his rapidly deteriorating health, he's going on short term disability effective August 1st. That's one of the big reasons I haven't been around, I've been having to help him a lot and go with him to several doctor's appointments to get his disability claim started. I'm glad he's going to be staying home now though, he's not supposed to go outside if it's more than about 85 degrees F, and it's been about 100 here every day lately, not counting the heat index.

Probably the worst news right now for me is that one of my kitties, Kuja, has been diagnosed with some sort of neurological disorder, a week before her 7th birthday. We can't find out exactly what it is because that would require an MRI and/or CT scans, and those cost thousands of dollars that we simply don't have. She's not suffering really, just has a lot of trouble with balance and coordination. The vet gave me prednisone to give her, and it's helped some, but it's clear that she's never going to be the active, playful and outgoing cat she used to be, at least not anymore. I'm not going to put her to sleep though, not until it's clear that her condition is actually causing her suffering and pain. At this point, she's just not as active. I just hate seeing my baby like this. She's been with me since the beginning of my sham of a first marriage, through all the hardships and struggles the last 7 years. Life is finally starting to get good for us, and she can't really enjoy it with me. That makes me really sad. :(

Anyway, that's pretty much it for now. How have you all been? I'm dying to hear what y'all have been up to! :)

Hey, it's good to hear from you!  Thanks for the compliments re: the wedding photos.  We had a blast and the photographers did a great job of capturing it all.

I am sad to hear about the kitty (((HUGS))).  I am really, really happy to hear things are coming along with the new job.  I am thankful you have been able to pick up more hours than anticipated.  I've worked for type A bosses, some really good and some bad.  As long as she's pleased with your work and not abusive, then its a real step up from your last place, right??

Hang in there with hubby.  I am sending all sorts of positive vibes.  Take it easy.

Oh, good for you and the job, but sorry to hear about the kitty. I agree about the CT/MRI--if it isn't going to change the outcome or the treatment, just keeping her comfortable is good.

Please be sure to take care of yourself during this stressful time.  I think many forget about the caregive when a family member is ill--everything is focused on the sick one, and we forget that the caregivers are stressed, aren't getting enough sleep, etc.  Let us know how it's going.

    ((HUGS))

I'm so sorry about your kitty and your hubby's declining health.  I'm glad he's able to get on disability and avoid the heat.  Is there any chance his surgery will be moved up?

Please do make sure to take care of yourself.

Well, DH is set to have the surgery in the first week of October, and we simply can't do it any sooner than that. We're both a part of the wedding party of our friends' wedding in September, and we've invested too much time, money, and stress dealing with semi-bridezilla to back out now. And we can't do it before their wedding, because even if he were able to heal faster, he can't go out to St. Louis in August. It was 110 degrees here today in Kansas city, and it's always hotter and more humid in St. Louis. Even if he could get out there, the heat would hinder the healing process. So yeah, we're just sticking with October.

I'm trying to take care of myself, unfortunately between work and everything else I am getting a bit run down. ;) I've been taking naps in the middle of the day, sleeping until 12 or 1pm whenever the opportunity arises, and i've put on a decent amount of weight. I'm hoping to start changing that some, DH is gonna be home now all the time so I won't have to worry about him much, and once it cools down a little I'll be able to start exercising more again (I get overheated very quickly, and I can't risk that in this heat). Work is tiring me out a lot too, I love it, and I love that my boss is giving me big projects to complete because then I can show that I'm reliable and learn quickly. But lots of projects takes a lot ouf of a woman! :) I'll keep you all updated and try to post more often. :)
