i am a second time bride in my early 50's. our wedding is all about the party, but i want and will wear a traditional long gown (its gorgeous!!). my question is this. i want to wear some kind of something on my head and understand that its a no-no to wear any kind of veil. i love love the fascinators and birdcages but am wondering if i could wear a short veil/fascinator to the side and not have it cover my eyes/face. what do you guys think?
also, is it appropriate to wear a garter, even tho we dont throw it?
thanks for your help!
Re: couple of questions...
The only prohibition is on wearing a blusher veil, any other veil is fine, so a fascinator with a simple net veil that sort of covered your head/ eyes is fine.
And sure you can wear a garter- if you don't throw it, the only person who will know you have it on, besides you is the person who takes it off, right?
Veil. There is no such thing as a no-no regarding veils. If you want to wear one, go for it!
Garter. If you're wearing real stockings, then real garters could be kind of cool. But if you're not throwing a garter, I'm not sure why you'd bother with one of those fake garters.
Just my $0.02. Good luck!
