Second Weddings

In person meeting with caterer, what to ask, etc.

To date all my caterer contact has been via e-mail or phone.
We have an initial draft of the menu that the caterer suggested and we have our changes.
They have confirmed the timing of the event and luckily have worked in our venue in the past.
But what else should I ask? or expect?

You aren't clear about what the venue is providing and what the caterer is expected to provide. Here is a list to help you.

    Linens  (tablecloths, napkins)
Place settings (plates, saucers, coffee cups, flatware, butter dishes, salt & pepper shakers, wine glasses, champagne glasses, dessert plates)
    Tables
    Chairs
If your meal is plated and brought to your guests - will the tables be pre set?
If you're having a buffet, how many people are they providing to clear dishes?
Are they staffing your event by the hour, person or is that included in the cost of the food?
    Are they providing the beverages?

One thing we learned from our catere that was very helpful and easy on our budget.  They suggested passed canapes (you pay per piece eaten) and poured wine (you only pay for what has been opened).

ETA:  Do they provide a tasting so that you know what the food will be like on your special day?
