I'm jealous of the lower insurance rates! I suppose I just mailed off my last 'single girl' premium though.

I didn't have one until 5 minutes ago...my recent Vistaprint order just arrived, so the rest of my day will be filled with decorating out of town gift bags and take out boxes for our popcorn bar! Yay!

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: AW Thursday : If I had $1750 sitting around the house i'd pay ours annually as well :) i hate having that monthly payment. we save because of a multicar discount as well, because...we're not married yet :) USAA will give us a discount once september rolls around though.

Actually, I couldn't pay in full this year either. When I was single I never had a problem finding the cash, but I was very very frugal then too. Now ... not so much.

ETA: I also just remembered, as I posted this, that I was living in the midwest when I was single, and I was driving a much older car. With all those things combined, my car insurance was less than 500 a year, I think. I miss those days!

I hear USAA is awesome. In real life, as well as the commercials that play incessantly on the radio. DH now turns it off every time we hear it, claiming it's "taunting" us since we're not eligible for it.

Yeah I couldnt really pay mine full for a year even when it was just me, but...I really don't have that high of a paying job compared to the amount of bills I have.

HAHA! Ya know, i've never heard of them playing any sort of advertisement EVER until like 8 months ago....

Luckily I qualify for it, because my father served, and Alex qualifies for certain benefits if he goes through me. We use them for everything, CC's, bank accounts, loans, insurance. You seriously can't beat their customer service. Actually, speaking of which, they sent me a letter in the mail yesterday that said they were sueing the insurance company that claimed to have coverage over the dude that wrecked my car a few months ago. They are sueing for all the money USAA invested in the wreck, along with trying to recover our $500 deductable  :)

Well - crap - I typed out my list of AWs, then our power flickered right when I hit post so it all disappeared :(

    WR:
-paid off: ceremony package (Las Vegas), bus tour (Las Vegas), florist (DFW) & bakery (DFW)
-going to pick up FI's suit tonight (and hopefully find him a shirt)
-next week, FI is out of town for work, so I'll be doing lots of little WR odds and ends with my mom & sister (MOH)

    Kinda WR:
-FI is ALMOST done with his project truck - kind of a "rat rod"/hot rod thing (it's awesome).  We really wanted it to be done to leave the reception in (only 1.5 years in the works)

    NWR:
    -Got my semester grades: B+, B+ & A... cumulative GPA 3.4 (YAY)
-I graduate on Saturday!!! (MA in Political Science)
(which means I need to find a real job...)

I'm probably too late, but in case you see this -- I went and edited my earlier post because I realized I was also living in Wisconsin when I was a single gal, where insurance was much, much less expensive.

And, that did not help my USAA-envy. Someone with USAA hit DH last year in a really minor parking-lot accident. DH made one call to USAA, and the check was instantly in the mail to pay for the repair. Compared to the hours I spent on the phone with my insurance company after my big wreck, when I was sitting by the side of the road trying to get permission to have my car towed somewhere, that was like magic.

FI won't let us switch to USAA and it annoys me. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

We've considered switching to USAA - but we are pretty happy with our current insurance.  Especially because their office is RIGHT around the corner from our house, so we just drop in with any questions or anything.  And our agent loves fancy/unique cars, which we definitely have - and he loves us (real young guy).  Seriously, we've spent like an hour in his office just bs-ing about cars.
At some point we'll probably get a quote from USAA and consider switching.
